So yes, it's confirmed. We can't wait.

Yes, this will probably be moved in the "Size of Armies" thread, but I think I'll comment on organization here anyway. I divide my infantry into 12-man units - let's call them platoons, as you do - with a sergeant to every 2 platoons. There are 2 platoons in identical uniforms and w...

Well, I "kinda" like classic figs, but I mostly have the new guys: KKII, Vikings and the recent Castle line. To be honest, I prefer the newer figs for many reasons: their great torso prints, savage facial expressions (eye whites!) and colur scheme. Note: I'm talking silver, gold, dark blue...

Wow R, thanks a lot for the exhaustive answer. You did indeed answer my question fully. :) As far as I understand, a wagon driver wasn't even necessarily a soldier, right? He could have been a peasant as well, couldn't he, hired or drafted temporarily. And I didn't know that the word gun originated ...

Looking for two English words

Dear All, I'm looking for the English term for the following two types of soldiers in a medieval army: 1, The one that operated catapults, ballistas & the like before the advent of cannons. 2, The one that transported on a cart or wagon all the weaponry and supplies that the footsoldiers could n...

As I've already said elsewhere: while I don't particularly like their set design, Fright Knight minifigs rock! There are no less than four very useful generic torsos in this one theme, plus the first Lego witch. And think of the red horse barding!

Army building here, too.

Just very recently I sold a lot of MF parts and accessories because I swore that I had enough men, all armed & ready. Guess what? I'm buying those very same parts again for even more soldiers.

Oh yes, you need a backstory to really determine what you want. At the moment, both of my armies are supposed to belong to powerful centralised monarchies, so they have pretty standardised uniforms. (I wish I could show pictures, but this takes another month or so.) I'm thinking of bringing in more ...

Some great (large and small) armies here that I haven't seen before! BTW, I was largely inspired by Troy T. Moore's Crown army . I am currently torn between size vs. individuality. On one hand, I really love these very impressive huge armies that some people have accumulated. Especially if they aren...

I prefer the studded version. It's great to be able to add a 1x1 round plate or a viking horn for an even more evil look. The KKII heraldry, on the other hand, still makes most of these shields useless for me. I like the scorpion and the snake pattern, but even with these, I have issues with the col...

I'd like to add to my earlier post that my now 150+ Crown knights and 90+ dark knights are all "hybrids", not stock minifigs out of any official set. This is probably the case with most of us here. I like to play around with torsos, heads, headgear and weapons to create clearly distinguish...

It depends if you want to stick with realistic-looking equipment, or going for show effect. Apart from archers and crossbowmen, all my soldiers bear shields. This is because I like to equip them as if they were posing for a parade - and, as Robin Hood said, they look cool that way. In battle, howeve...

Here's what my Crown army looks like (or will in the near future, when I receive all the heads & accessories I've ordered): 12x mounted knights + 1x knights' captain 1x flagbearer 48x swordsmen + 1x sergeant 24x spearsmen + 1x sergeant 12x pikesmen (pikes w/ 4 side blades) + 1x sergeant 24x cros...

Fright Knights: 13 complete, 9 incomplete.
