Re: Promo Kingdoms Sets

I've recently bought some 30061's off BL too, from a seller in the Czech Republic. Back when I ordered them, the set wasn't even listed on BL yet, so he had to list them as some sort of custom set. But as of yesterday, BL already has it listed as a set (no inventory yet, though). About the set itsel...

Wow, an excellent idea for the arrow penetrating the body. Mind if I borrow this?

Re: Bye Bye Bionicle

I'm very far from being a fan of Bionicle, but I don't get why some of you are so overjoyed to see it go. For one thing, I agree with the comment that it's a good introduction to serious Lego building for kids - my 5-year-old son included. For another thing, please remember that Bionicle was one of ...

Re: Transitioning: Five Years After the Color Change

I also came out of my dark ages around the time of the colour change, so it didn't affect me that much. All the old gray I have is in classic sets that I don't use for MOCing anyway, so I build with the new colours. In all honesty, I like the new grays better than the old ones - though they're rathe...

Re: A question for other parents

My solution is very similar to many of you, as mentioned above. My kids have their own collection and when they're at home and awake, that's the Lego we're playing with. I don't have a dedicated Lego room, but as my collection (including armies & MOCs) is kept boxed at all times to prevent them ...

Re: Erecting a runestone

A well thought-out and well posed little MOC. Congratulations!

I can't help but admire your torso, face and hair/headgear selection for the figs. They look excellent.

Re: Size of Armies

Thank you, DaleDVM! Well, as I only buy new, those 25 black bows and quivers took about a year to collect... Yes, the viking torsos are my all-time favourite. They're very versatile and look amazingly good in a lot of colour combinations. I've only got one reddish brown cape, but I'll sure tr...

Re: Size of Armies

Here's an update of my (partially WIP) armies, as of today.

Complete:
11 x 25 infantry
2 x 13 cavalry

Incomplete:
6 x 25 infantry
2 x 13 cavalry

In the individual folders, there are close-ups of the various figs.

Re: 7029-1 Skeleton Ship Attack

Just a quick reminder to those who are planning to combine the skeleton ship with the troll ship: please note that the hull pieces are a different colour! Black for the skellies, dark brown for the trolls... and reddish brown for the vikings' 2007 ship, BTW.

Re: Falcon's Tower

I like this tower a lot. As others mentioned, the roof probably leaves some room for improvement, but all the amazing details that keep the wall surfaces busy very well make up for that in my opinion.

I also love your tree design and landscaping.

Re: The Evolution of Hrothingas Castle, final stage!

After 6 installments, I'm still amazed by both the concept and the execution of this project. Because of the abundant plant life, this stage is my favourite - and the whole series together is my all-time favourite SEOC. Congratulations, DNL, and thanks for sharing. :)

Re: Low quality figs in non-regular sets.

I noticed this thing on a batch of 12 troll torsos I bought off Bricklink some months ago. Now I know they probably came from the Giant Chess (as the BP wasn't available back then). This really bothers me since I specifically bought these torsos to make these guys . Now that non-shiny brownish print...

Re: Medieval Food

Yes, that is very simple -- which is what makes it so good. While I like the "custom" food that Lego has given us, I also think that using standard pieces 'imaginatively' is closer to the Lego ethos. Hehe, they did it themselves in 1872 Soldiers' Forge  . Nothing like a tasty 1x1 cyl...

Re: Medieval Food

I also use the 1x1 round plates, as well as plain 1x1 plates and the slope 30 1x1x2/3 ("cheese slope" ) in different colours for foodstuff. Plus I make further unspecified edible roots from unprinted red and yellow minifig heads with a 3741 flower stem on top. :) As mentioned above,...
