Re: Harold, The Traveling Castle Fig

I wonder if there is a way to get similar pictures without resort to photo-editing. I've never been able to edit photos well. In the HowTo thread I posted a Youtube video that shows the process. Maybe it can help a bit :) Also keep in mind that since the lighting in both photos is the same (and the...

Re: HowTo: photographing a minifig and a landscape in the back

Hey, Do you mind if i turn this into a short article and post it in the 'how-to' section of our site? http://www.classic-castle.com/howto/articles.html One question - what software did you use to edit together the photos? Of course, it will be my pleasure! I used GIMP and I now have a sample video ...

HowTo: photographing a minifig and a landscape in the back

Some people, including some friends which aren't from the lego community, asked me how I took the photos of Harold . So here it is. Harold proved more challenging than I thought to photograph. I don't build much, so I decided to take him to see the landscapes. In the picture of a man in front of a l...

Re: Harold, The Traveling Castle Fig

Hello! I'll upload my photos soon. I can send Harold to his next rendez-vous next week.

Should I send him to Remyth (#15) or have we found someone in Italy, or somewhere near by? BTW why not send him to jens at Germany (#16) so that we save the Atlantic trip?

Re: Harold, The Traveling Castle Fig

Very cool! Will he have the chance to visit the Acropolis? [skip] Hmm, he's been to Istanbul and is now in Athens. Do we have any members in Rome for Harold to visit? Bruce Harold is an excellent excuse for me to go for a photo-session in town (too many distractions the last months), so yes he'll h...

Re: Harold, The Traveling Castle Fig

Hi! Yep, I am not very active lately. I won't be home until the 2nd of June, but my mail is collected properly, so there is no problem. If it's ok to delay the photographing and the forwarding, after the 2nd of June, I'll PM my address to DNL!

Re: 3D lego surface

Bruce, Ben I guess since there are gaps between the flat surfaces of each headlights (the surface of the sphere will not be form uniform surface), I think a sphere could be created. However, I have no idea if it will be able to "close", I mean if it would be possible to align all the studs...

3D lego surface

You have seen lego surfaces that bend in 2 dimensions (most notably castle walls). I 've been trying to figure out how to bend a lego surface in a nice way in 3 dimensions (like a bowl). After lots of experimentation I manged to do this: http://mocpages.com/user_images/8315/12590030014_THUMB.jpg The...

It's really good news for the quality of bricks and there were evidence things were moving to this direction since they took over the Czech factory in just in 2008 (in the Sustainability report 2007). I just hope they can financially cope with the 2000+ employees they acquired (I conclude this from ...

Ah, I thought you imported the psd directly. Yep that's the procedure. You have to watch out the quality of the picture (resolution, focused etc), then tweak the trace parameters (number of passes, trace by color, brightness etc). When you finally trace the bitmap you have to manually edit the nodes...
