I find logical categories are the great way to sort lego. That's what I was trying to describe. You point out the advantages very well though. One thing though, I am sorting a lot of sets for the first time, and I keep having to rejig the groups to keep them small enough (but not too subdivided eit...

I think first thing to note is that you should not try and sort every piece by type and color! I started down this path and it's a big waste of time. I find logical categories are the great way to sort lego. The main reason is this: You want to know where pieces are and you want to lower your search...

What is this part?
So I recently acquired a collection and ended up with a number of strange parts I have never seen before. This one looks like a 1x1 flat round plate but it's about 1.5 plates tall!?! It also appears to be cracked :( Not sure where it's from but it does say lego on the top. I could spend 15 mins on b...

I thought this was a great topic and I thought I would add something that has helped me in my career and as a new Lego builder. Not having enough bricks is not a disadvantage. Quite the opposite I think it's a far superior way to build. Here's why. It forces you to innovate and make the best of what...

...although I don't understand why the rat is standing on the tower. I used the rat as a sort of gargoyle / deity / statue sort of thing. You can see another one as a statue inside the tower in the middle. I'm not sure it makes the most sense ever since they have a giant knight statue on top of the...

Heh thanks Bruce! I wasn't thinking it would be that interesting to folks here but I'm glad people dig the micro castle. It just sort of happened by accident I was noodling and a friend of mine joined in helping with the design and construction. The next day I added most of the micro-figs and did a ...

Don't want to steal your thunder. 8) Oh, heh I wasn't really gonna announce that one... It was just a little side project. I'm workin...
