Re: CC Set Review: 9473 - Mines of Moria

I just recently put this set together for the first time, after having bought it on clearance and then set it aside for a rainy day. I'd heard some bad reviews about the set; mainly people grumbling that they didn't like it, or were disappointed. Frankly, I'm not sure what's so bad about it. Making ...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Snow White’s Cottage

My daughter got this set for an early birthday present. When the day of her party came, another friend had also brought this gift. She said "I already have this one". I think that says it all.

Re: LOTR and the hobbit lego

I have to say that I am most excited about the new parts we should see from this line, but I have some serious reservations. First, I hate the stubby legs. They need poseable stubbies or else this series is dumb. Second, the LoTR settings don't lend themselves to small sets. There are no vehicles. T...

Re: Built a lego work area

I can't wait until my kids are old enough to play with Lego. Right now I only have my desk, and I can't leave any parts lying around or they get lost, eaten, etc. The only thing that work area needs is a kick-butt storage system :)

Dragon Head

I have some of these:

And I was wondering, besides a bar along the middle of the head, dragon bodies and alligator bodies, does anyone know of good ways to attach these pieces to things?

Re: What's your favourite Castle helmet?

Put me down for the Shadow Knight helm. I love how it fits with the plate armour. I like the shadow knights but once I saw that helm paired with black plate armour I geared up all my shadow knights and their nice red shirts were hidden. In second place, I guess I'd vote for the pointy visor. My main...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Skeleton Tower

I like this set a lot ; my main complaint with this set is that the tower's walls aren't solid and the middle section isn't tall enough to be a proper floor. I think an extra handful of black bricks would have gone a long way toward making this set perfect. When I built this one I cannibalized the ...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Weetabix Castle

I think the castle is reasonably well designed for its day but I agree with the others that it doesn't really compare to modern creations. Nowadays the building techniques are more advanced and the piece selection is much better. It's like watching an old movie, which may have been groundbreaking wh...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Viking Chess Set

... every single minifig was glued. In mine, only the queens, the rooks, and the knights were glued. I'm with Josh: my set had only some things glued: * The chessboard squares, made up of 4x4 black and white plates, are glued to the 32x32 white baseplate. * The rooks are completely glued except for...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Viking Chess Set

I reviewed this set on my blog when I first received it from Lego Shop at Home. Basically I was disappointed by the glued pieces and by the awful swords. I thought the glue might be justified for people who actually play chess with the set, since the pieces might fall apart if they are stuck to the ...

Re: Weekly Set Review: The Final Joust

As Jojo mentioned, as a joust or tournament set the design is a little weak. But I see that many people love the figs and horses. Personally I don't like the skeletal horses but I really like the armoured skeleton. I like the idea and I like the printed armour. Ok, so the armour is probably supposed...

Re: playmobil project - prison tower

I think this MOC is a wonderful idea with excellent execution. My problem always tends to be over-ambitious plans that lead to poor execution. I think I need to build something like this: not too big, but lots of detail and care and elegance. Even the castle-wall pieces look good; they're often a co...

Re: modern castle? v.s classic castle?

In my opinion the modern Castle line is superior to the Classic line. Building techniques and part selection have come a long way and far more is possible now. I've never really cared one way or another for a particular faction but I feel the modern Crownies have the best minifigs of any Castle line...

I agree with wobnam. "Blog" is a generic term these days that has lots of connotations depending on who is using it. I wasn't aware that FBTB is using WordPress but it seems like a good candidate. Sir Nelson, Classic-Castle.com IS a blog, in a sense. It has articles about various topics. I...
