It depends what kind of size, shape and level of detail you're going for. Do you have any kind of example pictures?
I'd maybe use the 2x2 tile with central pin with pin connector and then some kind of arrangement on top.
If you're building larger then it obviously gets easier.

Re: LOTR and the hobbit lego
Totally. I was just hypothesising from the information I have. TLG have always send that Castle sets are one of their core themes (along with Space, and City). So unless they've changed their minds and decided to replace all castle related sets with the LOTR theme then it's not beyond belief that s...

Re: LOTR and the hobbit lego
I'm happy for this, it's good to see castle take a different direction.

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?
The point is that KIDS idealize. They go bonkers for these sets because they see the advertising and drool over them in the stores and catalogs. They put the sets up on a pedestal, because they don't have anything else to compare to. And the result is that when they become adults, that deep-seated,...

People who are nostalgic tend to idealize.davee123 wrote:Yep! And adults are nostalgic for what they LOVED as kids, not what they thought was boring.

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?
That's why when you ask AFOLs what their favorite castle sets are, they'll often tell you their favorite was the "standard" castle that they had when they were kids. That's nostalgia talking. It's a sign of mid-life crisis. Hmm. I'd say you're either a set collector, a pessimist, or...

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?
I do not think we see only reruns of older sets. We do see a new castle, and siege equipment and such, simply because every run needs these staple sets. Every kid will want a simple four walled castle, and something to break it down with, that will not change, we, however, also have sets that go be...

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?
When I buy a set at the moment it's because I like the minifigures or the new parts are interesting. That shouldn't be the case. ...That's debatable. What I mean is they shouldn't be the only selling point. You're happy to keep buying the same boring rehashed sets providing they throw in a couple o...

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?
I think we're in a decline at the moment. The step towards more civilian life sets is a start but we're still getting the tired-old 4-walled castle. Siege weapon vs tower/gate. Carriage under attack and so on. I'd like to see some new blood and new ideas in castle. When I buy a set at the moment it'...

A horn for medieval/ancient figs. (The blowing kind). Leaves in autumn colours. Bricks and smaller plates in dark brown. The 1x1 bricks with studs on 2 sides next to each other (not opposite). The inverted 2x2 corner slope in light bley. The 3-stalk grass piece in reddish brown and dark tan. Pointie...

I built similar looking chairs a while ago.
They do look better in brown but I also like the ornate feel yours have.

Re: T'Met Monastery
My thoughts exactly. One question, could you show a segment of wall done in that style, or point me to one, as although I know the piece, I cant for the life of me figure out how you can connect that many without it falling apart/being too unstable. I used mostly L shaped liftarms . The extra conne...

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6042/6294710257_37672033b0.jpg I'm glad this one is finished. There are lots of half-plate height and width variations that made it challenging and I'm beginning to miss my desk. :) The brick technique is created by using technic liftarms and was borrowed from a moc b...
