Polycarbonate is used in all translucent elements, and some parts like the lightsaber blade. One of the interesting things that I learned at Brickfest from the Lego designers is that it's very difficult to push a lightsaber blade through a trans-yellow 1 x 1 cone, but the same cone will easily fit o...

I've been playing through Fable lately, and it's a good, rich game with lots to see and do. It's addictive to do it one way and then go back with a different character to play a different way--there's both a Good and Evil track in it, and both are enjoyable.

The best Lego commercial still has to be:

"It's fun, It's neat, New Legoland Main Street!"

(Of course, showing my age...)

Thanks for the comments everyone! One of my early versions had a mast built out of 2 x 2 round bricks, and I found that even with technic axles down the middle it really didn't have much strength. Hence the plates through the deck of the ship for support, and the sail attachment method and ladder on...

Favorite Castle Book?

We've had a favorite movie thread; it's only fitting that we do favorite books too! Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order: The Lord of the Rings , J. R. R. Tolkien: Duh. Probably the masterpiece of 20th century literature, by a man who loved language enough to invent his own and make...

The castle movie that I watch over and over more than any other is Ladyhawke . Good story, good acting, great lines from Matthew Broderick as Phillipe the Mouse ("I know I promised, Lord... but I also know that you know what a weak-willed person I am.") and Rutger Hauer (so stoic throughou...

BTW, I've seen some posts by those of us who purchased from Mr. Swanberg worried about the legal ramifications of having done so. Most states have laws against knowingly receiving stolen property. Those of us buying from him would be considered "good faith" purchasers who had no knowledge ...

I would think if the police didnt auction them that Target and other stores would try to ship pieces back to Lego and workout a deal so that their loss isnt too great. You never know though. I will have to let my relatives in Portland know so they can keep an eye out. Dusty Most likely, Targ...

Thanks everyone for the congratulations! Things are going pretty well (it's easier the second time around), and I've got a good start for my CCC3 Vehicle MOC... I think we need a new acronym - BFOL (Baby Fan Of LEGO) or BFOD (Baby Fan of Duplo), for those kids born into AFOL households. Little do th...

I quote these not because I'm a rabid Lewis fan (well, okay, maybe I am), but because I think you could take out the words "book" and "story" above and insert the word "LEGO" and you'd essentially sum up the whole "You're too old to play with LEGO" thing, IMO...
