Re: Neuschwanstein

That castle is simply stunning work! As DNL I am not much of a fan of the original castle. As it was mainly constructed as a theatrical fake/facade castle. Although it still sits pretty on top of that mountain. But as a fan of Lego I really appreciate and am impressed by what Bob has build! :) I hav...

Re: playmobil project - prison tower

You Certainly improved on the original! And I really, really, really like the fact that you are sticking with your modular wall design. The way you are building now will allow you to make a verry impressive walled city display, where everything will fit perfectly together. So thumbs up from me, and ...

Re: My first Castle MOC in 7 years! (Work in Progress)

I really love this build. The tiling on the wall really ads to the feel of the building. The roof is great as well. Have you considered using 1x1 round bricks to run along the top slit in the roof? To round off the top of the roof. Have you contemplated using different shades of grey for the walls? ...

Hi Hob Took, Thanks for your comment. The roof is actually hollow on the inside. So there is more than enough headroom. :) As you can see from the fireplace there is already two bricks aditional headroom there. as you can see in this photo: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Johanvande/WIP-castle/hou...

Dear Medieval_total_lego, those are some great walls. :) I've been contemplating a modular size for walls as well. Personally, I've abandoned lego's standard baseplate size and opted for a 20 stud wide wall instead of 16 or 32 studs. This because it is a multiple of 5 and 4 studs. Allowing both the ...

Extra buildings with 10193 Medieval Market Village

Dear all, while photographing the courtyard buildings of my current Castle WIP, i decided to photograph them rogether with the Medieval Market Village. Since, they have the same style and the courtyard buildings are partly inspired by 10193. Any comments are welcome. Kind regards, Teddy http://www.b...

Thanks Guys, I really appriciate your compliments, especially since they come from such great builders! :) Recently, while building the Keep, I did a small study into the Tudor style. As a result of that study, I've been updating the courtyard buildings to better comform to the Tudor style. Here are...

Dear Elmas, due to a lack of knowledge on other fortifications I agree with you on Carcassonne, for the time being, as being the best medieval fortified city I know. But the topic was about castles and not fortified cities. As for the castles you refer to in france, they are Renaissance palaces insp...

Just came across your photos on brickshelf.
I really like the snowy and icy landscape. :)
I actually was under the impression the waterfall was a glacier.
Is it ment to be flowing or frozen up?
kind regards,

I can imagine this being abandoned somewhere on a mountain in the forest.
So that would still make it a secret hide out. :)
I like the use of slopes for the machicolation.
Kind regards,

Thanks Aliencat, as this is my first castle MOC I wanted to make a typical Dutch water castle. (Since the land in the Netherlands is flat they usually build them as squares in a moat). I understand the risk of it turning out to look boring. Therefore, I've tried to prevent the big grey wall syndrome...

Dear MrTs, that is a really cool and detailed MOC. I just love the secret hideout and the water well exit. The way you've made the structure is very interesting. Especially, since it doesn't seem to mind that most (like for example the roof) is not complete, but that it still "feels" compl...
