Thanks for the review.
I think this set is great and it's nice to see that Lego are finally implementing medieval life into the Castle theme, which I have not really seen since the 90's (apart from medieval market village). I'll definitely buy this set.

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?
I think we can all agree that with the introduction of he Kingdoms line, things are now looking up for the Castle theme.

6080 for nostalgia!
Also more minifigs and horses.
I do not need to justify my reasons.

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?
Davee123, I think your diagram is quite accurate.
I think the 1990's saw a slow, unnoticeable, decline; then it really went bad with Knights Kingdom II. The Crownies were a new starting point in the modern world for the theme in my opinion.

Re: 2011 to 2012 castle set speculation
I think that the theme will continue right through and will not be replaced because of the Hobbit. Do not forget that the Castle theme was one of the first three themes with minifigs, and so it is an important part of Lego. I just think that it may continue like this for about 3 years, then it will ...

The Decline of Lego Castle?
I have noticed for some time that some people have said that when Castle got to the Royal Knights time (mid-late 1990's) that the theme itself started to decline. I would not say that it declined with the Royal Knights, nor with the Fright Knights. I would say that it truly started to decline in the...

Re: Greatest castles
Not being biased to others, but I think England has some of the greatest castles, with styles to compete with a majority of European castles, I should say of those in the British Isles influenced by the English too like Harlech. I find French Castles intereting too, yet the English castles carry a s...

Re: Viking kings
Christianity was a big help towards the Viking cultures becoming Kingdoms. I also have a reference from the Miles Kelly Book Of British History that states, 'Vikings passed laws and settled disputes at a public asembly called a 'Thing'. The Isle of Man assembly met at a grassy mound called the 'Tynw...

Re: Viking kings
In the British Isles, The Dark Ages are considered between 410-sack of Rome and 871-King Alfred Comes to the Throne. I use the term Vikings to describe the raiding groups of Scandanavia before a kingdom was established in Scandanavia, I'm not exactly going to refer to them as a 'Scandanavian raiding...

Re: Viking kings
Well shadowviking, we can all get carried away with moment sometimes, can't we. May I just say that contradicting may be 'pushing the boat out' a litle bit, you see explanations are needed in some cases. I'll take the 'classiness' remark as a compliment, so thank you. And I forgot to add earlier tha...

Re: Viking kings
I think you'll all agree with me that their were no Viking Kings before 850AD. Europe was in a Dark age, Democracy was quite scarce, of course the church was at the head of this at the time and it continued until about the 16th century. The Vikings started of as a groups of raiders, they settled and...

Re: Magna Carta MOC
I've allways considered those parts as little bushes, I got them out of a Town set about 15 years ago, I forget which one it was.
Sorry if this isn't much help.
And thanks for the info Bruce.
