Re: Lands of Classic Castle map draft voting

Mmmh, it's a difficult choice. I had to rule them out, one by one, to get to the winner. Sir Zeppelin's map is missing some things, as main rivers and terrain type apart from mountains. The terrain of the blue faction is split up over the main continent and a big island. I wonder if blue would be ha...

Re: lands of classic castle map making

Here's my rework, or second version, this time with a legend: map v2 legend v2 Again, east is the upside of the map, as the sun rises in the east and drops in the west. This means the cold north is left on the map, the tropical south on the right side. The type of map might provoke misunderstandings...

Re: lands of classic castle map making

As I mentioned before (in the pretty dead ideas thread), there's more than one way to solve the cluttered, filled to the brim with mocs map. Leave area white as wobnam suggests. At the edges of the map (Terra Incognito), or somewhere within like that black area, or the white spots on my map. Or make...

Re: lands of classic castle map making

Yes, that's what I had in my mind too. You could even make a zoomable map, zooming in to submaps. The thing is, how to incorporate this? It's not a photo, it's a webpage (html, possibly added with JavaScript or JQuery), and you can't host that on flickr nor display this simply in a forum topic like ...

I don't need a clearer picture. On the contrary. The darkness, the awkward look on his face... Yess. Lost in lostness.

Re: lands of classic castle map making

I thought I'd give it a shot as well. No borders drawn yet - except the natural ones, nor all the land occupied.
The very centers of the factions are depicted, but not named.

A bit of a hasty job, but it was fun to do.

Re: Lands of Classic Castle - Discussion Thread

Good to see this rolling, it's got a lot of momentum. Hurray for short map deadlines, and no more than 5 decisionmakers! I certainly will not apply for faction leadership or admin role. As a relative newby I'd feel way to uncomfortable and unfamiliar with all of it. So I'm happy to see some taking d...

Re: Guilds of Historica on Eurobricks

Wow, that was a looong story to read. A lot of good ideas came across. As this topic title referred to the original GoH I didn't expect this energetic brainstorm here, and read it later than the other posts calling for names and signs of interest. A wiki is a good vehicle/structure to keep 'solid' k...

Re: Group project, one admin's quick thoughts

I agree with Bruce's quick thoughts. This is THE opportunity to breathe life into stories. Wither away in an unknown alley isn't necessary. I do think life here depends on gathering forces, by the means of advertising and marketing. Erh, I mean by spreading the word outside this forum as well...

Re: Castle project naming thread

My first naming thought was CCM - Classic Castle Mundi. That binds it unmistakenly to classic-castle. It sounds after CCC, which was the thing that drove me here. And it's all Roman ciphers. Now that I read all your suggestions I see it's no better than LCC. About the name of the map, I thought of t...

Re: Gauging Interest in Upcoming Group Project Participation

I'm very interested. It could get me building more often, though I must remind myself the words of the preacher: it is better not to promise than promising and not pay. But I know me a bit: I work better with a deadline than without. When I saw the settings I was convinced everybody would go for 'my...

Maybe it's time for a custom minifig knight, with a slogan on his shield: "Mihi patientiam usque in finem mundi"

Re: Another Smithy

That's a nice smithy, a bit clean. (I personally favor buildings being a bit dirty, already dying and rotten and rusty and, well, I'll shut up) The really fat chimney is my favorite, The wooden structure of the roof and the antique crane are very nice. And of course the scene depicted is  , suc...
