BrickFair 2012 Castle Displays
Hi all,
Curious who all is planning on making BrickFair this year. It's looking increasingly like I'll be attending with a large-ish display I've been working on, off and on, for about 20+ months now, along with some other bits I've previously posted online in various places.

Qafanid Mausoleum
Hi all, I haven't posted anything here in a couple of years, but I posted my latest MOC to flickr over this past weekend: Qafanid Mausoleum I have long wanted to build something using texture and shadow, rather than color, for the wall decoration, inspired by the real monument known usually as the M...

Maidan-e-Brick
Hi all, I brought to BrickMagic what I've done so far on the Maidan-e-Brick (maidan is a Persian word for a plaza/city square, cf. Maidan-e-Naqsh-e-Jahan, nee Maidan-e-Shah, in Isfahan, Iran). The Maidan-e-Brick is to be the main city square of Brickhara, the capital city of Brickistan. Thus far it'...

Re: Castle at Brickfair 2010
I am, as of now, planning to be at BrickFair with Brickistan 2.0. Hopefully that won't change. I still need to make my hotel reservation, which will likely be somewhere in Baltimore if the current rate of hotel rooms disappearing continues.

Re: Deadliest Warrior on Spike
I like the show a good deal, the spetznaz/ green beret wasn't too exiting but seeing shaka zulu getting his (insert mild profanity) kicked was fun. I agree that the scientific/historic content is iffy but altogether it works out well. I watched this once, the Spetznatz/USASF episode as it happens. ...

Re: Shrine of Nasir ibn Brick
Hey Tanager, Was this based on any particular real-life structure, or was it just based on Islamic architecture styles in general? Bruce Bruce, Monumental mausolea or shrines over the tombs/graves of revered personages, such as Sufi saints, were both fairly common (rulers might erect the shrines to...

Re: Shrine of Nasir ibn Brick
Wow, this is so cool. I also love the detailing around the entrance, but also the interior details are really cool. Are these even visible? Or are you just so detail oriented that you felt the need to put them in even though viewers wouldn't see them. (snip) Bruce They're barely visible - at LegoPa...

Re: New Bricks for 2010
Yes, there was quite a bit of discussion of this new part when the first pictures of the Prince of Persia sets were released. There are also a ton of these in the Grand Emporium, and they show up in some of the Atlantis sets. Bruce I've started using this piece from some PoP sets I've parted out. M...

fair enough! I guess I picture the lush gardens contained within what is otherwise sand, dirt or rock but I guess that's not necessarily true. Your link isn't loading for me, though. :c Probably a referrer issue. Try searching Google images for "Maidan e shah"/"Maidan-e-shah" or...

Re: Castle at Brickworld 2010
If anyone has ideas for something special you'd like to do in the Castle display or something that you'd like to see included, please let me know. I'm always up for new ideas. Considering the release of the new Prince of Persia sets, a call for middle eastern castle MOCs could be apropos. Of course...

Re: Alamut Gate by dita svelte
I has been a long white since i've seen such a great arabian moc. I really need to buy me some PoP sets! It is a great MOC, without question. And since I build mainly in Islamic architecture, I take particular interest in seeing that there are actually some others out there doing so. Yes, buy yours...
