Re: LOTR and the hobbit lego
This is a great thing- the books are amazing if a bit slogging intensive and the movies were just about the best movies based on books possible without making more movies than books. That said, I'm going to lay out some cons as well as pros cons 1) a lot of the best stuff is too big ( orthanc, minas...

Re: Colossal Castle Contest 9
aside from the fig based categories to which the answer seems obvious, are micros allowed given, of course, that they fit in to the category otherwise?

Re: Bothellshire Bothy (shown at BrickCon 2011)
I must admit- I did a double take over the name (something to do with a nonexistant "R" if you catch my drift...) but once I got past that I thought it was great. The church is well built, if not overlarge. The castle it's self has interesting walls which I like. also thanks for the answer...

Re: Best (Realistic) Archer Torso/Minifig Design (A Discussi
For a standing army of archers, generally, I use the heraldic body with apropriate colour grey legs (light or dark depending on faction) or sometimes black, brown, etc. Basically no flamboyant legs. and they usually have a kettle helm with exception of my black falcons who use bullet helms because A...

Re: favorite castle weapon
Hard to say. If I want a fig to look like a "normal" soldier I use a spear or a pike. If I want an infantry captain sort of look I go for the classic sword. A kind of mid to high ranking infantry dude tends to get the one piece axe (not the hatchet or the halberd, the inbetweeney one) Halb...

Good build. I particularly like the squat look of the towers.

duct tape customization
I was fooling around with duct tape when I realized it could be used in conjunction with LEGO to make good looking mail hauberks and the like. from there I expanded to capes weapons and even to a shield (via flame print duct tape)

Re: Custom Minifig: King's Officer
Nice looking fig. Though may I suggest the addition of pauldrons or epaulettes to better hide the rubber band? Anyway, this solves a long standing problem for me: two handed weapons without long shafts.

Re: Monthly Challenge #11: Conflict!
Assuming it takes a tolerable amount of time to upload my pictures onto brickshelf I may actually be on time for once (I think it uploads slowly precisely because it knows I'm horribly impatient ).

Pauldrons
I was tinkering around with epoulets and I realized if you put epoulets underneath a breastplate it looks a bit like pauldrons. my camera is currently messed up but I'll try to put up some pictures later.

Re: Terror Of The Witchfinder General!
Nice MOC. I think the studs could have been used a little more sparingly but the buildings generally have a good style. Also thanks for the history lesson I had no idea where the salem witch trials came from.
