Lego iPhone 4 Wallpapers

i decided to make some wallpapers for the iPhone 4 that are optimized for the Retina display's resolution and DPI. i made a lock screen and background. You can find the download and screenshots on my personal blog: http://www.8bitkid.com/2010/10/27/iphon ... allpapers/

Re: How do you store MOCs?

i just made a trip to the Container Store this weekend to find some Lego storage solutions. they hady a bevy of good plastic storage bins that will keep mine safe. i put my MOC's in the bins, and then stack the bins in a closet. also, i invested in some cheap wall-mountable shelves that i have put u...

Re: Community Software

i'd definitely love to see Lugnet get some energy put back into it. by not having some sort of hub, it makes it more difficult to find the community that is right for you. in some ways, this high barrier to entry can be helpful, because it sets a threshold for how much you really have to want to fin...

Re: Community Software

thanks everyone for all of the thoughtful and insightful replies, it is definitely fascinating to learn a bit of the history. do you know if there has ever been a discussion about reviving the LUGNET domain, but putting new software behind it? or have there been discussions about starting another ca...

Re: Community Software

I'm an older member! [Josh waves his hand] :) Classic Castle grew out of the Lego community on Lugnet , which was/is a lot clunkier than this. I wasn't in on the founding, so I don't why phpBB was used, but it has worked well. We recently upgraded from an older version and it was fairly painless, a...

Community Software

hey everyone, as a longtime fan but someone fairly new to some of these community hubs, it has been interesting to see the different setups. i actually work in tech building community products (previously at Yahoo! and MySpace, and now at a startup), and so i tend to always look at the underlying te...

Star Wars Weekend at Legoland

has anyone attended one of these weekend celebrations before? http://california.legoland.com/Plan/shows_and_events/star_wars_days/?month=8&year=2010 as a Lego fan, a Star Wars fanboy, and a SoCal native, it sounds fun, but i'm curious if it is targeted at children or might be fun for all? i've n...

Re: Significant others and LEGO

my girlfriend has definitely been supportive, but it is important to find a way to make it work. for example, i make sure that models i build aren't strewn about the house or in places where she wouldn't want them featured. i've also found that she is getting more interested in building, and i make ...

Re: Been blogged and you don't like it?

Thanks for the responses, everyone. You've got some good ideas and info. Brickd, I think most people would be very pleased to be featured in a blog like yours. In this case, if the blogger had read the description at all, he/she would have known I would not be pleased to have my pattern represented...

Re: Been blogged and you don't like it?

as a lego blogger ( http://www.brickd.com ), this is definitely something i am sensitive to. i definitely try to be sure i am always honoring the wishes of the original creator by never altering the photo and by always giving credit. it seems to me that many builders don't really leverage the Creati...

Re: LEGO Blogging

Dunechaser, thanks for all of the great feedback. i definitely only blog because I love to blog, and i only blog about what i love. i'm certainly not looking for any revenue, and so raw traffic isn't a goal. i really am trying to be a design-inspiration blog, in the spirit of something like http://w...

Re: LEGO Blogging

Also, when you see a great MOC, either in a forum or on Flickr or MOCpages, leave a comment saying that you blogged it, linking back to your blog post. For one the original builder will appreciate that their work is getting attention, and others will see the link back to your blog. Bruce this is de...
