[MOC] Hingston Castle

It's been a long, long time since I've been active in the online LEGO community. Anyhow, this is my latest MOC; Hingston Castle. It sits on 24 32x32 baseplates and 4 48x48 baseplates for a ...

Re: CCCXI Entry: Dawn Armour Castle

Bravo! This is certainly one of your best efforts. The four large towers are certainly imposing and the inclusion of non-right angles on the build is always refreshing. It really helps make the composition more appealing. Again, your landscaping is captivating with a huge amount of foliage. The smal...

Re: Some love for Castle

I'm really late to this party, but I would love to see a taj mahal/tower bridge style castle or cathedral. This would be an incredible parts pack for castle fans, but it would also make for a fantastic model. A genuinely large minifig-scale castle would approach $1000, but a micro scale castle could...

Re: MOC playabillity

I've always treated castle building like making a doll house. Although I'm by no means a child, I always try to include an element of playability in all of my builds. Full interiors aren't a difficult feature to include, but they really add to a MOC. My earlierst AFOL castles were hinged, but now I'...

Re: Al Wahat

I love your ability to make modest-sized MOCs look absolutely imposing. This is another fine example of a build that looks far larger than a 32x32 MOC ever should. It's absolutely beautiful. I really like the way you've framed the windows. The use of tan and other earth tones here works perfectly an...

Re: Crumbling Tower

Great work.

More than anything, I like the top of the tower. It really looks as if it this is a stop-motion frame in an animated movie with the walls are collapsing in on themselves.

Re: Rare white foal...

The black and white foals were never released in a set and could be prototypes or molds from one of the LEGOland parks. There is also the possibility that these are simply knockoffs produced by a clone brand. Look for markings which indicate that the pony is made by LEGO. Yeah I made sure of that.....

Re: Rare white foal...

The brown pony (or foal) is quite rare. It only came in two paridisa sets; Country Club and Carriage Ride . These things go for about $10 - $25 on Bricklink. The black and white foals were never released in a set and could be prototypes or molds from one of the LEGOland parks. There is also the poss...

Re: September Monthly Challenge: New CC Mascot

I'm glad to see that the ball is rolling on this one. I have a fairly simple submission that I'll put forward. I'm in something of an awkward position as I had a design in mind before I proposed the idea of a CC mascot, however I liked some of the suggestions made by Forestboy in the original mascot...

Re: 2011 LEGO Design Challenge

Interesting contest.

Although I'm not eligible to enter as I'm not from the three aforementioned countries, I do have a quick question. Are these designs supposed to be illustrated, or are they brick-built designs which will in turn be illustrated by LEGO's graphic design team? Just curious.

Re: Does anyone use original sets in their MOC's?

This is fairly common in public displays where folks need a large number of structures to create a believable environment. Train and town layouts will often have CC buildings as well as a number of structures that were inspired by those sets. Castle layouts may have Dan Siskind's Blacksmith Shop or ...

Re: Tower Retburg

As you mentioned over on Flickr, you really should work on your photography. I can forgive a poor photograph, but leaving a mess behind your MOC is just lazy IMO. The actual build isn't half bad but the presentation is lacking. I think that properly documenting your development as a builder is very ...

Re: Fort Lagoona

Nicely done. In the thumbnails it actually looks quite busy and a bit unsightly but when you zoom in and look at the build in all of its glory it really is quite impressive. I really like the swashbuckler who is hanging onto the crate that is being raised by crane. I would suggest placing a boat bel...

Re: Amon Hen

This is all kinds of awesome! While it's pretty big for a vignette, it's easy to see why it won. This is easily one of the most impressive LTOR builds I've seen in my time as an AFOL. I love the colour transitions in the rock face and the waterfall is incredible. Landscaping isn't easy to do so it's...

Re: Curved Amphiteater Walls

This is great.

I always appreciate it when a builder is kind enough to share one of the tricks behind his or her work. Your amphitheatre is a work of art, so seeing the technique you used to make it come together is a nice bonus.
