Re: LCC - The Unknown Soldier

Very cool statue! I'm always impressed when someone is able to "sculpt" something so detailed with bricks. I'd love to see this with some context such as within the center of a medieval town square surrounded with activity or within some shrine within castle walls...

Re: The Battle of Sacred Glade (LCC GC3 Phase 2)

This is packed with action, can't wait to dig into more of the details and the story! I'm really liking the feel of knights versus magical beasts you got going on. I like how you got the stone coming out from the walls and fading into the grass of the glade giving the landscape texture and depth. Ma...

Re: March of the Ents

Your Orthanc looks so epic in the backgound! The mountain ridge is also very nicely done and I envy your collection of classic trees. :)

Best of luck in this category, Bruce.

Re: New Takeshi Itou work for 2013

I showed some of his work to my wife and she immediately responded, "Oh these are from Zelda!". I then proceeded to google image Zelda to look for the inspiration, but not sure if I'm convinced yet... Anyway, his work really brings back the classic era with an aesthetic that is truly inspi...

Re: Harry Potter Durmstrang Ship 4768 - Black Falcon shield?

Are there any other examples of classic heraldry being reused in bley-era sets? Or is it the Black Falcon's alone who are the favorite "easter egg" with such examples as Battle Dragon, The Durmstrang Ship, and Kingdoms Joust?

Nice, clean vignette! You managed to pack a lot of fun action into this one, I like it.

Good catch. Almost all but discredits my argument. All the more strange now, but no question a very welcome part in any set. :)

Re: Harry Potter Durmstrang Ship 4768 - Black Falcon shield?

Durmstrang Ship 4768 was released in 2005. To the best of my knowledge, the last previous set that contained black falcon shields was Black Falcon's Fortress 10039 in 2002 re-released as part of the short lived legends line. It contained one of each black falcon shield variety, blue bordered and yel...

Re: Opinion on the new Legends of Chima Sword(s)

Not having the swords in person it's hard to tell how large they are in relation to minfigs, but maybe the trans-red sword would fit in a blacksmith shop in the process of being forged. Metal glowing red hot has a similar color scheme.

Re: Prototype Old Castle Set

That does look like a pretty cool set. And as I looked closer, I might be seeing things. Does the white horse on the bottom near the drawbridge look likes its front legs are in a different position than the other ones? I know it's hard to tell because of the similar colored background, but it looks...

Re: Castle and Tolkien sets for 2013

Hoping for new barding designs that allow posing with the new horse. Maybe something similar to the king's in http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/? ... %20Knights. I seem to remember LEGO saying these were coming, and a new castle line seems the perfect spot for them.

Excellent layout! Thank you for posting these, they are very inspiring. To name just one feature that caught my eye is the rock formation. I love how it appears you slanted the bricks.

Old Oaks or Bandit Ambush Redux

I've been playing around with tree and landscaping techniques (not to mention photography techniques) for a larger and upcoming MOC. I ended up with something that reminded me of a larger 6024 Band Ambush and wanted to share. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/5412255384_2e1d8ee145.jpg Old Oaks by ...

Re: The Missing Link(s): Linking Together The LEGO Castle-verse

I find this topic very interesting to speculate about. I've rationalized the LEGO Castle-verse to myself as a chronological rise and fall of the factions. I completely understand why people feel the theme has rebooted several times, but looking for direct links has given the factions a unique sense ...
