Re: LCC - Masons Guild - J1 - Secret Passage
I like it. It has the looks of both the older LEGO castles - a la Firebreathing Fortress - and the newer Weathertop set from the LOTR series, but with a sturdier construction all around. I like the branch sticking up on the top of the hill and the little pile of rock in the left corner near the path...

Re: Your Most Common Grey Colour
I only build in the old, pre-2003 colors. I still shop at the pick-a-brick walls and buy basic sets that come with mostly primary colors. I really wish they had made something like the Medieval Market Village in the old colors. I just can't bring myself to make the change.

Nice use of the raised baseplate.

Very cool overall shape - simple & elegant. I'm a sucker for white tudor-style walls too. Nice use of the minifigures' stands for the roofing; I don't know if I've seen that before. Welcome to Classic Castle.

Re: CC Set Review: 4819 Rebel Chariot
I wasn't a big fan of this generation of Castle, but I like the chrome elements they scattered throughout the series. I have 6091 King Leo's Castle, and now I'm wishing I had gotten the sets that featured the unique chrome pieces. As for this set, I like the minifigures' torsos. But the Star Wars-st...

Re: LEGO Tavern
I realized while looking over your pictures of this MOC that your screen name seemed familiar, and then I remembered that I had looked at your other castles before. As I commented on them previously, you have a nice retro style that really shines through all of your castle builds. Dr. Jackles and I...

Re: Elysium
Your MOCs look nicely open-able, accessible, and thus like they'd be fun to play with. It seems like you've managed to add detail and activity without going overboard. Fun stuff. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Very cool blend of old and new. I like the large firepit and all the other details you fit into the (relatively) small interior. The pith helmets as flowers are also a nice touch. Really neat stuff.

Re: Dragons of Lore Entry: The Creature Love Created
I'm not much one for the fantastical stuff, but that room is beautifully built. :) The bookshelves are wonderfully simple, but they add so much character. I really like your choice of color for the floor tiles too - bright primary colors would have taken away from the whole design. I'm actually kind...

Can you hear the sound of all of our jaws hitting the floor from where you're sitting? :D Once I got over the size of this MOC, I was impressed all over again by the neat texture and details on the walls. My only complaints - and far be it from me to criticize  - are that the outside landscap...

Brick-built beasts aren't quite my cup of tea, so I'll leave the serpent for others to comment on.
That being said, the cave and the shaping of the rest of the 'snowscape' is really great.

I really enjoy the wooden elements that make up the stairs and walkways behind the gate and the way you broke up the stacks of facet bricks on the tower and around the gate. You included a lot of great detail and activity without making the scene too busy. It's a really great MOC.

Thanks very much, konze! That was above and beyond the call of duty - a great example of what a great community we have here.konze wrote:I've made a little LDraw model for you.
As for the technique, I think I will play around with that a little bit for whatever I'm working on next.

I really like the broken roof on the run-down building in that first MOC.
Is there a staircase in the tower? Or is there going to be? I always like seeing the different ways people build stairs. They can be tricky.

I really like the arches on top of the inverted slopes both inside and outside; that's one of my favourite techniques to use in my own stuff.
The stained glass window is super neat too. How are the white fence pieces attached?
