Re: Minifig Customization Network

I'm definitely one of the MCN 'old-timers' -- and I agree with missing the place quite a lot. While I love seeing all the custom minifigs (and there are a LOT) that pass through the BrickArms forums where I tend to spend most of my time these days, it's not quite the same as having a massive forum/r...

Re: Viking kings

Just wanted to point out that anyone who has actually kept up with historical research over the last 12 years or so would be aware that 'Dark Ages' is largely a misnomer and has been steadily falling out of use in the historian's vernacular. Where we originally believed very little was known about t...

Historical Action Figures

While not strictly 'medieval life' related, I figured there's probably people here unaware of this that might be interested. Unimax Toys has finally released the first wave of their 'Ages of Action' toyline. It's a 1:18 scale (like G.I. Joes and Star Wars) line of articulated, highly detailed action...

I wouldn't say it's -smarter-. I'm saying that when properly protected, you -can- set your decals that high on the leg without ever worrying about them becoming damaged by the friction of moving the legs.

And you're welcome. Happy to help.

Question #1: Is it the nail polish that stops the decals from being destroyed? I have done many, and find it is a crap shoot as to whether or not they rip, tear, etc. I do not trim down the hips, I will try that as well. Yes. Again, I use 'Diamond' nail polish as it's the strongest clear polish I'v...

I don't think anyone 'prepares' a sculpted piece for injection. The method is either designing the piece in a program like CAD and sending it to a professional tooler (like Will of BrickArms does) or designing the piece and having someone else translate the design into a CAD-type program for a profe...

Depends on what kind of decals you're using. Are they waterslides? Using the application technique I described a moment ago in this thread , I've applied many leg decals. None of them rub off, scratch, peel, or otherwise get damaged by moving the minifig's legs. I can take my minifigs and move the l...

It's ridiculous how many customized minifigs I have just laying around my house. I've been doing it since I got into the hobby some years ago, and my method's always been the same. Waterslide decals - which are printed for me alternately by either Will of BrickArms (as a favour, he doesn't sell deca...

Phar! I sent you like three or four other designs a few weeks back and never heard from you. E-mail me, bro! Looks like I copied the template correctly, though. Did the belt come out too dark to show up? Hard to tell from the picture. Either way, I like it! I really do have a soft spot for that 'Ibe...

LAS - bah! We all know who to go to for the real stuff. People like that are scum, and we all know it. It's one thing for different vendors to make items within the same genre, or even of the same type. It's wholly another to outright steal items. That's something I hope we never see again from anyo...

Territory? I don't think anyone in this small community really has claim to any. Little Armory has had Star Wars-inspired firearms for a very long time, and released a series of modern firearms shortly after BrickArms first appeared. And of course, BrickForge has been doing historical and fantasy we...

will we ever see 2 handers or 1 1/2 handers?
Just a quick note -- the 'longsword' IS a "1-1/2 hander." Hence the term 'longsword' - which is, in current academic conversation, a term designated to hand-and-a-half swords.

Oh right, the musketeers. Can't forget about them. Well, since their primary weapon is a musket, I guess they might need these:

New BrickArms Prototypes: Longsword & Rapier

Thought you guys would like to check this out, for those of you that don't follow the BrickArms forums where the info has already been posted. BrickArms debuted two new sword prototypes at BrickCon this year that might be of interest to Castlers. http://b.imagehost.org/0820/BrickArms_Rapier_01.jpg h...

I would like LEGO to consider how it might be possible to create a proper Rapier thrusting sword. A dueling sword that is straight, narrow, has a cup-hilt and can be pointed forward by the minifigure http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/KnightDamien/BrickArms/rapier_v2_05.jpg I'm sure it's -possible-....
