Well it's been eleven years...

Hello everyone, I haven't been on the cc forums for many, many years. I'd forgotten some of the classic lego jargon, like 'MOCs' and 'SNOT' (is that still a thing?). A few days ago, my brother who had claimed most of the 'family legos' and (by extension) my own collection, decided that having legos ...

Re: [MOC] Hingston Castle

this is amazing. I had to log in and reply because I too have been missing from the online community for... over ten years now! those interiors are something.

when I sorted (I now have piles of legos everywhere, making building take much longer then it should), i sorted by color. Then I realized how hard it was to see what exactly the part was when it was mixed in with a lot of the same color, especially black pieces.

I love the use of the cape as water flowing out of a barrel; I'll definitely will use that!

I don't know why, but I'm still happy it is being released soon! I don't want to wait all the way until summer for this masterpiece :D :P

I'm also not sure how Dan could say that this hardly covers any new ground. It covers new ground for the fact that it's a village and not just one building. My question to Dan is, if this isn't good enough for you, what is? You're exactly right, Dan is simply trying to inflame the community and dam...

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but this set hardly covers any new ground and 95% of this set is a direct rip-off of MOCs and what the "fans" have been doing for years. The concept and scale are almost identical to my early custom kits and all of subsequent MOC's they have inspir...

I'm excited now! I just developed a way to do slant walls with a 1x4, but wait, I could just use wall pieces! but anyway, you'll have to see what I'm cooking up, I think you all will be happy with it, hopefully!

But I guess I'll be done with it in a few days. Perchance.

I can see where some of them are because of the hollow studs; does that count? :P Ah, but some of those are from other bricks, like the 1x2x3 slopes and others. You can never be too sure  Anyway, a different picture reveals them (because they were old gray, not bley): http://www.brickshelf.co...

no, i like burps, saves on bricks although you do have to edit them slightly to avoid the repetition of having a wall of BURPs I think I agree, but I'm saying like those 4x2 bricks, etc. Anyway, if you can hide the BURPz and LURPz it'll work out... for example... http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/D...

Well, in my opinions, small and simple things like fish, bread, etc. are fine; they're accessories that are small enough that it's hard to make with bricks. Premolded BURPs and LURPs though, where they could be made of bricks, that does bug me. But smaller pieces, arches, clips, poles, etc, could al...

Question: Were there any hints/rumors of this spectacular set that I perhaps missed? Must not have been since this seems to have taken everyone by surprise. I wonder if they intentionally wanted to avoid a "banner year for castle in 2004" type debacle. I'm glad they were able to keep a ti...

I think I'll be getting 2 or so of these.
I know I've been inactive, I'm just busy all the time and haven't had time for legos for a while.. plus I'm missing pieces for my new (well now old) castle.

Ah, it's this time again. I know I've been pretty inactive but I'll have to show face in this contest! I'm actually thinking of a really good castle right now, Nottingbley-like and yet Castle on the Lake (TBA--still work in progress)-ish...
