Re: Weekly Set Review: Dwarves' Mine Defender
Interesting timing on the review for this set; up until just tonight, mine was still MISB (had to get rid of the box to make more space; will sort parts later on). For me, this set is all about the minifigs. It's a nice way to get some trolls, though I do wish they had included another troll sword a...

I like the tower and the landscaping. The mushrooms out front are a nice touch, too. Good work!

Re: Colossal Castle Contest 8: Winning Entries!
A major "Thank you!" to the admins for taking the time to run such a great contest. Also, a "Thank you!" to all who entered the contest; seeing everyone pull out the stops and build their best for the CCC is always a highlight of my year. Congratulations to all of you, and especi...

Agreed. The white mixes wonderfully with the brown, green, and gold; it's very pleasant to look at.BiggerJim wrote:The "marble" idea really looks good.

Re: Royal Library by Takeshi Itou
I've been a fan of Takeshi Itou's work for years now, and he never disappoints. I love how he skillfully crafts every creation without using overly complicated techniques. This library is magnificent! I don't think there's a single thing I don't like about it. For me, it's particularly nice to see t...

Re: JRC2 - Keelhaul!
This is a solid construction, but what really sticks out to me the most are the minifigs. They're perfect for this scene--especially the captain, who looks very stern and unforgiving. Good work!

Re: Medieval City
Absolutely breathtaking--every time I look at it I catch something else I missed before. My favorite part is all those smaller structures within the wall. Very, very cool.

This would make a great moat monster. I'm always impressed when someone can build something this nice using only pieces from one set; good work!

These are looking really good! First theme in a while I've wanted to acquire the majority of--I'd better start saving for it now.
Take a look at that treasure chest in the Mill set. Is that a heart?!

I second that, and can't wait to see the entries (I will no doubt have to get in on this, as well). Thanks for the heads-up, TooMuchCaffeine!Ye Olde Republic wrote:That sounds like fun!

Re: The Decline of Lego Castle?
Personally, I find that my attachment to the old minifigs is nostalgic, but my attachment to the structures is more for the system they were working with rather than the actual design elements of the particular set. I like the design of 6062's castle wall, but it's nothing tremendously amazing in a...
