It was my first stab at a waterfall, and I had fairly limited trans bricks to choose from. I used every piece I had almost. I'll have to study some of the other designs people have used to really perfect that. This one I did pretty much just by eye.

Also, if you can actually make it to a Lego store, they sometimes have huge quantities of the tiny bricks and you can get a big bucket for like $14.

The Harry Potter sets can be had relatively cheaply as well, and they have quite a bit of useful non-war castle stuff.

Thanks for the comments, guys! I'm thinking I might actually order this one. For a hair under $14, it's affordable even for a working dad like me. They do have a limited number of pieces on LDD, but when I looked at the LEGO site last night, they apparently added LURPS! Some more torsos would be bes...

Forge (LDD series part 2)

Here's another MOC of the peaceful castle variety. I tried including a couple of figs and I tried to make them relatively unique which isn't easy with LDD. Who decided that a dozen non-ubiquitous city torsos and one single castle torso was a "good selection"? Even some generic white shirts...

Hehe, yeah, no helmet for the squire yet! I was thinking of building some sort of knighting ceremony as my next MOC. I'll probably get to that when I finish the LDD designs I'm working on. Thanks for the encouragement. It did provide an interesting challenge to use the shape of the cave and landscap...

Thanks for the encouragement! I actually didn't put hinges on it or furnish the interior. I couldn't find the right bricks to do it with. In any case, it's Base8 compatible and the interior is 12x12 on the stone ground floor and 14x14 on the second and third levels. A lip exists around the part wher...

Knight's Cottage with well and wife (LDD series Part 1)

My first LDD creation. I tried to make it a peaceful one since the only pieces you can get in LDD are armor and a crossbow (not very synchronous). http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Gomur/KnightsCottage/knightscottageforum.jpg High res: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Gomur/KnightsCottage/knightsco...

I appreciated the scale of this in particular. The siege tower could have used a little work (the sides were a funny version of BGWS, except brown), but the wall and the cross-section of the battle was great. A note on architecture: usually castle walls that were higher than about 20 feet or so had ...

I love that the whole top comes off to see what's inside. That's pretty sweet.

I dug this. I put together my Knight's Challenge tonight and I'm feeling like my next project will either be a bigger version of a tournament or something along the lines of the Blacksmith's shop. I've got to try building more stuff on LDD. I love the idea of being able to buy something I've built d...

Looks like the sort of place you get stationed at if you get caught in the scullery with the King's daughter! I like that it had a very utilitarian and military feel. Maybe some work with the towers might have made it feel even more imposing. Great look, though, with the water. I just tried somethin...

All right, here it is: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Gomur/Trade/100_5461.jpg This is a really great mid-sized set from the late 1980's with rare vintage parts and figs. It includes two completely kitted and mounted classic knights with the deluxe barding, a brown horse, four armed foot soldiers...

The Dragon of Hillfont Castle

Well, a few weeks back I shared with the forum that right around the time I came out of my Dark Age, we purchased for my son the Duplo Dinosaur Valley set that had the fur pieces I've used in a couple of MOC's and also this cave-like baseplate: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp?itemType=P&a...

Knight's Challenge for trade

A few people expressed some interest in this, so I figured I'd put it up here and see what I got for offers. I'm not 100% sure I WANT to trade it yet, given its special rarity, but if the offer was right I might consider it. Thus far I've got the complete set minus one red goblet and one old-style g...
