$40 shipping for a package that probably won't weigh over 3 lbs?

Out of curiousity I put a rubbermaid plastic container with 125 red pirates soldiers with 16 horses on a scale: 2 lbs 11 oz. Mailing that to Bangor Maine from Los Angeles is $9 via Priority mail. $40? I'll pass.

Lego is intended as a toy, but then model trains were intended as toys. People make hobbies out of both. Pretty much the same thing, really. However, a "hobby" store won't generally carry LEGO, so it is not surprising that some from that segment would not admit to it being a hobby. It's pr...

Well, I suppose that is the sword I'd wanna put with a barding with a broken clip! I haven't painted my "barbutes" that I made, so it is good to see your painted version - probably would save a lot of elbow grease and time I spent on polishing mine back to the Lego gleam. Adding the plume ...

I had Army of Darkness (Hail to the king, baby) in the background as I was looking at your pics. Between the two, it kinda cried out for some spurious captions.....

An interesting attempt at breaking up the rather static shape of the barding into a more flowing cloth piece. I'm not a "Lego-look only" type (though I do appreciate it when well-done), so I rather like it. Is the horse head-piece multi-part? I'd like to see the banner formed into a more r...

The subject at hand is not is not about customs - it should be moved or locked. I think moving it is preferable, but it ain't up to me.

This topic reappears sporadically. I have well over 1000 medieval figs - an exact number I couldn't say. That's just the official figs, and not the conversions. Others have collections of several thousand. But many have under 100 figs.

Strictly purist. If LEGO doesn't make it, I don't use it for building or accessorizing. I do own a fair amount of Jeff's stuff.... I'm strictly purist... i accept only some accessory of jeff like star wars machine gun and the great helm... bcause this is are potetial lego parts... "Strictly pu...

I think it was Kurosawa's "Ran" that had the bombardment of flaming arrows and matchlock guns on the castle. The old bearded guy, the Daimyo, survives the attack and then goes psychotic, if I remember correctly. Does that sound right? He said 60's (Throne of Blood was '57 actually), and R...

If your all fans of old medieval movies. Go watch the movie "the Magic Sword" I think it came out around the early 70's, but I'm not sure. That movie was corny to the point of being a comedy. They never used CGI special effects for the death scenes in that movie. The result was a lot more...

5. Not sure the name of the movie, but it was a 1960's samaurai flick. The "good guys" army besieged a castle and killed everyone inside. and the last person alive was the daimyo and they spent the next 15 mins firing arrows into him. It was a very good movie even wihout subtittles. Just ...

A jewler's saw is the preferred tool for mods like this, I'm really amazed that shears worked. Both Two-tonic Knight and E of Alshire use saws and exacto knives. Anyways, I can't wait to seed the other four! Actually, I rarely use an X-Acto knife. I have one, but mostly I just whip out the Swiss Ar...
