Moreover the Classic-Castle mascot should be more of an observer/visitor to the vigs we create. If it is a battle scene the mascot should be just that, a mascot for his chosen side. In more sedate themes he could be seen as a visitor, with more interaction. I'm thinking more of a Where's Waldo type...

I would double check all the plates you are using. I can't easily tell, but it looks like a few might be 2x deep, especially the green ones in the top left corner of the pick you posted. I just picked up a box of these from a TRU in the States. And where I'm at is not a place known for getting stuff like this early. So you might start looking at your local TRUs to see if they are putting them out early.
