Re: Building LEGO castle sets you never owned from scratch
Technically, I've done this with only one Castle set: 6105 Medieval Knights... and I had half the minifigs before I started, so that's not a tonne of effort. That said, I have done this for a large Space set (6984 Galactic Mediator) and a Pirate one (6265 Sabre Island). There have also been sets tha...

Re: Disturbing news about the future of castle
Viking 3 in 1 Creator ship coming next summer with 3 minifigs. First Pirates, then Castle, and now Vikings. Nice. This is starting a nice trend (albeit an expensive one) every summer. If this is accurate, I wonder what they'll use for helmets. Is the Viking mold still around? They last used it for ...

RIP Fraslund
The Brothers-Brick had a post yesterday announcing the passing of David Frank. The name meant nothing to me, but someone who'd been active in the community over a decade, was a Brickconner, and had a giant...

Re: LEGO Ideas first 2021 review - many castle Ideas
Bravo, Bruce, on providing that rundown--I read the original "these have been reviewed" post and got tired just scrolling through that, so though I noted the abundance of Castle-y content, I was far too daunted to give a proper post here. You've done that and more! Given the similarity of ...

Re: 3in1 creator castle lego
It's a mixed bag for me: two guards and a pirate (peasant? what is that guy?) is too light. Make that a princess or a soldier of another faction and you might have me. The actual design of the castle looks decent, better than the 2013 centerpiece, but I'm not in love with the colour scheme. I think ...

Re: What was your first LEGO set?
I keep meaning to reply to this thread but I am an old Ent grown very treeish on these fora--it takes a great deal to rouse me from my stupour. I was three days shy of having the first LEGO set in our family--my brother got a LEGO set on Christmas Eve from our aunt at our grandparents' and I got my ...

Re: Help Classic Castle be re-released!
Personally, I voted for Black Knights, Adventurers, and Ice Planet (or maybe it was Spyrius. One of those, anyway) - one castle, one space, and one other. I also mentioned the lack of Wild West among the options. No Islanders, either, since the lack of choices for Pirates fans was brought up. And w...

Re: Hogwarts Moments sets - and other official buildable boo
They have around 250 pieces each and three figs, so I'd be really happy if they came in around $25 USD (less, obviously, is always better). But pricepoint will be key. They are $30 USD: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/hogwarts-moment-transfiguration-class-76382 That's not... terrible... for a Li...

Re: Grandfather's Tale *Thread Updated 11/17/20*
It has, uh, been over seven years since I last updated this thread and Grandfather's Tale has, in fact, been updated in that time! (It's actually been about three months now since I uploaded the most recent chapter--the first one in years--but I forgot I used to link to them here. It's also migrated...

Re: Hogwarts Moments sets - and other official buildable boo
I'm surprising myself a little, but I'm really liking the look of those new Harry Potter books--I also hope those are prints, not stickers, but at least in the images, the appear to be well done enough that I'd buy them even if they are. Hopefully, they aren't TOO "licenced = arm & a leg&qu...

Re: 21322 Barracuda Bay
I really, really hope it does well--not just because I'm always down for more Pirates (though I thought the 2015 was lacking excitement, even if the sets were generally solid--but, in fairness, that was my darkest of grey ages), but because if it DOES, I think we could see other "nostalgia&quo...

If there were ever a month to hold a bragging-rights-omly contests, surely Lockdown 2: The Stay-at-home Order is the time to do it.
Maybe microscale it to avoid giant builds?

Re: 'Retro Style' Castle MOCs.
Well done! The classic style is very clear, but it's actually quite subtly advanced from actual classic sets. I'm really liking the placement of the balcony/landing, which looks good in closed mode, but completely ties the open mode together. It makes open mode a fully integrated design rather than ...

I assume that the readership around here has almost certainly seen the Brothers-Brick's coverage of 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay, or similar coverage ...

Re: Two Great Castle Minifigs in CMF 16
This whole series looks to be one of the ones I've been most excited about in a while--those two figs being, naturally, the main reason why. I hadn't even noticed--though I saw those pics on TBB--till this thread that the knight looks like he might have a newly moulded sword. It looks great.
