Avatar File Size Limit

Post by Vidgamer838 »

Hello, I have a minor gripe I have about the interface at CC. Whenever I try to upload an Avatar for the forums, the file size is way too large. 10 kb is really much too small to even be able to upload a nice looking image. If we could raise the size allowance a bit, possibly to 20 kb, I think it would be great. I only know of my position in this, so feel free everyone to comment on this.

I would agree that 10Kb does seem a little small, and having a file size of 20Kb would definitely help in creating Avatars easier. But having said that, I must admit it is possible to create a reasonable Avatar with the current conditions. It took me a little bit of work in PhotoShop to try and get my animated Avatar to fit within the CC limits.

It took me several tries with Photoshop aswell to get my avatar within 10kb, but I did. It actually is 7.6kb because it was still complaining that my file was to big when it was at 8kb! If the size (pixle size that is) stays the same but file size increases, I'm all for that.

The increased 20 kb limit should help, but in case anyone's still having trouble and doesn't know about this feature, Photoshop has a nifty "Save for Web" feature that'll get your filesize down to a manageable level.

And don't complain to me when pages take twice as long to load because everyone has 20K avatars! :-P

Cool! Now my new avatar (if I ever choose one) won't have to be so grainy....

Thanks!

Heh heh heh... this is one thing I was wondering about... also, I noticed that the limit tended to restrict the use of some avatars that might be gaudy or "too much".

Still, I guess 20K should be fine too. 8)
