Castle MOCs archive?

Maybe we could make a list of all the nice castle MOCs that have been built? we could update it when somebody posts a new creation. With such a list it would be easy to find a certain MOC or browse the list for inspiration. I know that there is a featured MOC section, but there are only a few MOCs there, while there are so many more awesome castle MOCs on the internet.

We could make a list with thumbnails that link to the gallery with more pictures, and divide the MOCs into different categories like for example big castles, small castles, towers, medieval vehicles, medieval houses, inns, towns, minifigs, micro castles, landscape, techniques and ideas, ships, churches, battles, and more. If there is one person working on two or three categories it wouldn't take that much time to make and maintain the list.

So what do you think?

I think it would be great! It gets a little tough to look for inspiration when I have to go to several different Brickshelf or Flickr accounts because they each may only have 2 or 3 really great creations. By having them all in one spot it would be much easier.

Sounds awesome. I've been trying to do a similar thing on my computer for personal use. That's a cool idea though.

I have a little list of MOCs that I go to for inspiration (mainly Rocko and Darkspawn, but others as well).

I think that this is a superb idea, and would I would use it all of the time.

When you say nice, do you mean that they will have to meet some sort of criterion? Also, if they are listed, they should be numbered. Not by greatness or popularity, but just as an easy means of cataloging. If someone finds a broken link, it is much easier to say "Vignette # 53", rather than give somewhat obscure directions.

Yes, it would be too much work to list every single castle MOC created.
It's a good idea to nummer them.

Who wants to help listing the MOCs?

EDIT: here's an example of how the list could look:

I really like this idea, a few days ago I thought this would be useful, as I was searching for different landscaping techniques. A bit hard with just roving brickshelf and Flickr, but this would be invaluable.

Okay. Just one note: I think the number should be obviously above the pic, because halfway down, I couldn't remember if it was above or below the pic.

God bless.

So you want a website where everyone MOC can be viewed?

Archiving all mocs posted on CC would be a gigantic task. It would be a very nice feature to have. Currently you can check out any moc which was highlighted on the main page of CC by going to our Creations section on the main page. The CC admins will discuss creating a more comprehensive list.

Perhaps it could be submission based... I suppose that would make it easier, just having people that really wanted their creations in the archive submit their MOCs. You could always ask for volunteers to take care of it as well.

The problem with the first part of your plan is that not all the old builders are still active on these forums. And it would be foolish to apply this only to CC when there are so many great MOCs outside this community.

God bless.

Ideally each CC member could have a personal page where they could highlight their mocs (like moc pages only better) and have their avatar. This would require much complicated coding which is above the current admin teams ability. However, if anyone out there is a genius programmer and want to donate their services to create this type of system for CC, they can contact us.

Something like the old LEGO Mecha Hall of Fame? Would be interesting. I'll be interested to watch this project. On the featured MOCs, I apologize for the total lack of updates lately. I've just started a new job and life is hectic here, but will get on that once things calm down a bit.

I agree that the proposal as it stands would be a Herculean task, so perhaps we could start with something smaller. How about an archive of all MOCs that placed (i.e. 1st through 3rd) in the CC contests? I know that this was started long ago, but the list as it stands now is woefully out of date. Bringing this up to date would be a good start.

I might even be tempted to volunteer to put something together.
