Announcement - Possible Forum Upgrade

To all CC Users:
The C-C Admin staff is currently deciding whether or not to upgrade the forum to the newer version of the phpBB software currently used by our sister site, the Forbidden Cove. After reading the documentation it seems that there is, indeed, an upgrade that will allow us to keep all of our old data.
However, nothing is certain, so while we will be backing up all posts and user accounts if we decide to upgrade, things may be lost, especially immediately during the transition period. Whatever lost may never be able to recovered, but we will do whatever we can.
The transition itself should be relatively quick, but it could take a full day. The process involves creating a new forum seperate from this one, and then combining the two. Because of this, we may be shutting down this forum for that time in order to ensure no lost data.
When the new forum is online, some passwords may not work. The "forgotten password" dialogue should work to fix this.
Other changes may also include the implementation of Admin-controlled user registration, much like FC. Spammers have become a problem, and this may be the only solution.
