The background has been changed on a trial basis. Personally I don't like it as much as some of the other backgrounds we've tried, but I'll go with the majority. However I've not made any changes to any bar - what big ugly bar are you talking about?

Look at how the board was a little while ago:

See the 'board index' bar, below the logo and above the board? Looking at the current index page now it looks like it's been fused into the logo section. Which, IMO, looks much better than having it lodged out there on its own.

Sava, is there a place where we can see the various background textures??

You are standing in the way of Progress, sir!
I think I see both points... there really is no *reason* to change it, but a new styled logo could look nice.
I just felt the logo could look cleaner and remain pretty much the same. Here, I did a new version with transparency so it will look right on any background, though preferably a dark one like the original image:

Pleeeeeeaaaaase change it back to a clean background. :o
I'm serious :)

Oh, and not opening links in a new window is the modern way, not the target=_blank way.
But, I must say, I polled at my board and 95% wanted the old way back, I'm glad I did it.
It's not that hard to fix.

I did prefer the blue studs to the weapons we have at the moment.

Here's another version. Stone Goblin told me the last version was too plain.

And a test of the design against a background I quickly threw together:

Nice upgrade

Just wanted to chime in and say I'm not dead or anything. One of these days you WILL see something new but don't hold your breath. Let's just say the Happy Sunshine People have been busy. Hopefully in time for Brickcon in October.

I like both, though I did find the weapons to be very refreshing and actually more subtle than the studs. But I'll try not to be a  .

Perhaps a darker less contrasting weapons background would work. Could even be weapons tinted to the forum 'blue' color or whatever you fancy. The current background has apparent compression artifacts.

Great work on the upgrade. I think it looks great. Sometimes you can't make everyone happy, so kick em in the teeth

I leave home for a few days and look what happens. Great job Anthony, the forum looks better than ever, I like the studded background the most, the old white one killed my eyes. :orc:

Hm, I really did like the weapons background more than the studs. The red shields are (sort of) unique to this site, whereas the studs could be from pretty much any Lego site.

Hmmm, been away for over a week, so now I'm getting a gander at the new layout. Blue. Very, very blue. I like blue.

Looking at this "post a reply" page, I see many new emoticons. This one, :twitch: , is a nice addition for the many jaw-dropping beautiful creations that get posted here. Actually, I still want a "jaw-dropper" emoticon, but that's okay.

One question: what does '[flash] is OFF' mean? Will my monitor explode if I turn it on?

Nice to be back. Looks like the good china wasn't broken in the interim. Good job, folks.

Well, I for one favour the studs in the background. The weapons were just too distracting. Right now the forum looks very clean which is always a big plus for me. Besides, given today's trend towards studless designs it's probably just as well to have a LEGO stud background to remind folks just exactly what a LEGO brick looks like.

Good stuff.
