He can say that???

pissy
I found this on a post, and it got me thinking, what words are appropriate and inappropriate for this site.
I'm sure you all know that the age requirement for this site is 13, and do you think that parents want their kids on sites that have inappropriate language? Now I know that it's not that bad, but how far is TOO far?
Any feedback? :?
EDIT: Changed to protect identity of poster

Of frak it all. I think some barves take language just a little too kriffing seriously.
...and that's how Equestria was made!

The admins/moderators are usually pretty good on reading everything. If they think a post is out of line, they will act.

I will suggest in future not calling anyone out publicly. Much better for all involved.

@mrkovach: Overall, words that are considered inappropriate are filtered/censored by the forum software and administrative discretion. You reference the TOS, which defines the clear intent of the policy, so why question specific words?

Discounting your grammar, and based on the context of usage, you seem to know exactly what that word means (Warning: Expletive description in link). I do recall saying that word aloud when I was young, and with dire consequences. I don't believe that that term (or reference) has changed since then, but please let us other C-C members know exactly what you mean. Thanks.

I just wanted to bring to your attention that most parents of 13 and 14 year olds would most likely find that specific word inappropriate.
Now if you said "freak" or "flip", those would be acceptable, but I think that was really right there on the border of what is and isn't acceptable.

The word that started this topic is possibly too strong for this site, but the admins will have to decide that.

Here's my take on the tangent this thread has taken:

Frak is not a swear word. It was made up to be a fictional swear word from the future that can be used on television. This is common in science fiction worlds. Drek in Shadowrun, for example.

What about swear words is offensive? The words themselves, or the emotions that make a person utter one? It must be the former, for the latter is frequently acceptable. Example: using darn to express frustration instead of a stronger word is considered proper in mixed company. That's the same rule I would apply to fake swear words.

At any rate, everybody should try and be polite to each other with minimal amounts of swearing. Real or fake.

Mrkovach,

In the future, contact an administrator or moderator with a private message when you see any material on the Classic-Castle forums that you believe violates the Terms of Service. We will then address the issue.

The admins will discuss this topic and get back to everyone. I am locking this thread for the time being.
