c-c home page

Post by Ben the lego king »

Before I had a forum acount, I use to go and look at all the mocs and stuff on the home page. Recently, I went back their and noticed that all the activity on C-C was in the forum and chat. Why is this? Shouldn't we lend more atention to the home page and not the forums? Write more articals in the "how-to" section and put more ideas in the site?

You need to improve your spelling, grammar, and punctuation to be a more understandable member of the Classic-Castle.com forums. Please see the updated quote above. Using a spell check function on a word processor would greatly improve your posts.

Classic-Castle.com has always been a balance between main page articles and the forums. The last article was posted two days ago on Sunday. We try to have one or two articles per week. Any CC member is welcome to work on their own article (on a new castle topic). If it is well crafted, the admins will post it on the main page and the appropriate section of CC (How-to, Gaming, Sets, etc).

Pretty much what he said. ^ Each week we try to put up at least a set review article and a featured MOC (I know, I am not always successful at getting these out), plus news articles as they appear (new sets, contests, events like that castle LEGO museum exhibit etc.). We'd invite any CC'er to write articles - for instance, we haven't had a good how-to article in ages.

Yeah, how would we go about making an article, type it up in a word processor and email it to an admin? (I'm guessing Bruce?) :raiseone:
^You should be more concerned with what's written above^

It would be best if you could actually mark it up with html, and there is a short article on doing this here. However, if you are unable to do that, I'd be happy to fix it up (please do provide any links that go along with the article). We'd appreciate both long-form articles like, for instance, the how-to articles or short 1-paragraph things like what we post on the front page. Generally the front page articles have one picture along with them, while the longer articles may have many more if appropriate. Topics could be anything related to the site's focus. So, for instance, a write-up of castle displays at BrickWorld this coming weekend would be great (hint-hint to anyone attending), or any LEGO fan gathering. Or maybe something about the history of the theme. Or write-up a great castle MOC. Or give a lesson on how to make stained glass windows, or spiral staircases, or how to customize fig accessories. Or review of the new LEGO Battles game. Etc. Etc. Etc. Be creative! If it's at all relevant, we'll be happy to have it.

I have written an article about building landscapes for LowLUG, and i have translated most of it to english. It is kind of similar to Savatheaggie's article about foliage, but about all aspects of landscaping and with more newer techniques and examples. I can try to convert it to HTML using a free program.

If you are using MS Word or one of its variants, then most will allow you to save the file in HTML format. Then all you have to do is fix the picture & link locations.
