Jakes Needs Help

Post by Glencaer »

Yet again, it seems.

I recieved this message from Jake:
===
I’m trying to collect the upcoming AFOL events (of all sizes) for a
calendar we’re working on internally to help understand and be aware of
all the events that are happening around the world.

Do you think you could help me collect this list?

Jake

Reply to this thread with your planned shows and events, and I'll pass them on to Jake.

Why not make this calendar internal and external? LEGOfan.org could have a section where AFOL's fill out a form giving event date, location, lug name, activities, and contact information. A small team of AFOL's (the ambassadors perhaps) could approve the submitted events and then they would be placed on a calendar. Making the calendar searchable by theme, location, and date would be important.

CC is thinking about working on a similar system for Castle events, but why not have a place for all LEGO fan events?

Indeed, this may be a first step by Jake towards that goal. I suspect that his motivation currently is to prove to TLG big-wigs how active and ambitious the AFOL community is.

Legofan.org does have such a feature. However, as far as I know, this has never been utilized. Back in the very first days of Legofan I tried to enter Brickfest (which was, at that point, a couple of weeks away), but there was a problem with the interface. I do not know if that problem has since been fixed.
