Were you aware...?
Were you aware that the Classic-Castle forum now contains nearly 3 times as many posts as Lugnet.Castle?
In the two (2) years that Classic-Castle has existed, it has had almost three times the activity (67,109 posts) as Lugnet.Castle has had in its' 6 or 7 years (23007 posts)?
But let's adjust. Classic-Castle after all, is its' own website, and Lugnet.Castle is not, and thus does not contain all of the administrative and non-castle topic posts as CC does.
So taking out the Administrative area, and the posts in the General area (effectly we're just counting the posts in the LEGO Castle section), we get... 42,280.
For those of you counting, that's a little less than twice the activity, and that's compared against Lugnet.Castle's unadjusted post total, which includes all of the cross-posts that may or many not be valid castle posts).
And to answer the big question:
'So?'
We've had a lot of detractors in our short history. A lot of people who doubted our existance. People who have criticized us, and continue to, for creating a Castle website outside of Lugnet. Well folks, here's our validity. Here's our justification.
Booyah.

That's really cool! I've never seen or heard any criticisms of CC firsthand, but I've heard of them, and it's good to hear about CC's improved "status".

I'm glad to be a part of this. I hope CC continues to stay strong and grow. Woohoo

Lugnet long ago ceased to be the center of the online AFOL universe that it aspires to be.

This site is awsome! I don't think I ever been to a site friendlier then this!(Except for PirateBricks which has mainly CCers for members)
I hope CC continues to grow, because we rock

But are the thousands of posts on CC content or fluff?
~Kevin Blocksidge
A fair point. But I'd wager that even IF 50% of CC was fluff, that is still 21k of posts compared to Lugnet.castle. But while there is a lot of fluff on CC, there is a lot of content.Bricksidge wrote:But are the thousands of posts on CC content or fluff?
In a way, too, the fluff is a good thing. Part of the big problem of Lugnet is how difficult it is to sign up and make a post. Phpbb is much easier. And sites that have the ready-to-post thingee at the bottom (like CSF, JLUG, LegoFan) make it even easier. I'd rather have a lot of fluff than no posting at all.

And fluff can be deleted, or consigned to the endless pit of Page 13. No amount of word generating by the admins can match the content a large community brings together.Bricksidge wrote:But are the thousands of posts on CC content or fluff?
Hmm... I wonder if this thread counts as fluff or content...
Is it really appropriate to be talking about fluffers in here?
Anyway, I would say that the average post on Lugnet is longer than the average post on C-C.c. I think the less user-friendly interface of Lugnet keeps away the short "me too" types of posts that frequently appear on a forum like this. No that it really matters. It's quite clear from a quick look at both sites that LUGNET Castle is very dead and this site is very alive.
Things change.

It sure is great to know that the biggest Lego Castle site is right here.
Heres to a better site yet.

That's excellent! So we are all members of the best Lego discussion site, let's celebrate! Let's wish the swift downfall of all other Lego forums, so ours prevails!
