Classic-Castle.com has decided to enact a Privacy Policy:

http://www.classic-castle.com/privacy.html

It clarifies what type of information we collect from members of Classic-Castle and what we do with that information. Classic-Castle.com does not share information with anyone outside of the Classic-Castle Team without your permission.

Please read the policy. If you have any questions you can post them here.

Hm. Intresting. I don't think I have a question, it all seemed pretty straight forward to me.

Great Write up! I really think it matches the TOS well.

Thank you for putting so much care in maintaining a clean, well moderated, loved-by-all-in-my-family site.

Thanks again!

I think this is a really good idea, especially as CC begins to grow and in some way become a bit of an authority for the AFOL-ish community... especially in castley "stuff".

Great thinking for both now and in the long run.

EDIT>> Just out of curiosity, in light of some of the cooperation CC does with TLG... would any of the information passively/actively collected ever be passed on to another company?

I assume a marketer or advertiser would probally not easily be given the information, but what about TLG?

Not that I mind, I'd love TLG to collect information about what I like and don't like, especially with castle LEGO... just curious.

Personal information such as usernames, passwords, emails, etc would not be passed to anyone outside of CC without your permission.

Fan requests in the Dear LEGO section are often passed along to LEGO. This is not personal information as anyone on the web can stop by and read it without registering on Classic-Castle.

Ahh... gotcha. Sorry, I misread.

As mentioned, I'd say this is a smart move for both now and into the future.

I'd have to agree. I think this just solidifies these facts for most of us. They already seemed in place, and I never worried about it here, but this is a great written document, something tangeble. A smart move guys, thanks bunches again!

A sign of the times. It's too bad such policies are necessary, but they indeed are. "Ours" here seems fairly straightforward.

Do you plan to include it in the registration process? I only mention this from past business experience. Having a policy is great, however just as important is how the policy is made known and clear to employees (my experience), or members in this case. I'm not trying to meddle, just a suggestion from someone who has been there before.

Take care, Richard

Yes, it would be a good idea to have a link to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service when a new member signs up.

Hey,

I'm unsticking this thread as it is a year old and I've added the original announcement with a link to this thread to the Admin Announcements thread.
