I agree we need more femail figures (though as I'm in the midst conducting a Miss Legoland Pageant at eurobricks, I must say its surprising just how many female figures there are). The new princess is a step in the right direction.

men's fantasy girls (princesses)
I've met plenty of little girls who wished that they were a princess. I wouldn't call that a mans fantasy.
She's talking about the boobs dude... :D

I agree, we sure need more female figs!
More diversity, women don't like it when they wear the same dress and/or lipstick. Think about that TLC :D

The few women who were truly capable leaders and warriors in the medieval era (such as Sichelgaita - Robert Guiscard's second wife) are not heavily publicized to a youth audience. Young boys equate Castles and Medieval with knights and warriors, even dragons, before equating them with strong female characters and the peasantry.
Agreed, but it would be nice if LEGO were part of the solution to this misconception rather than part of the problem. A few minutes alone in a room with Boudica or Joan d'Arc may sort them out :P

I solved this problem in my own Castle world by organizing the social structure into a hive. The queens are there, they are serviced by the kings, and they make all the workers/soldiers and whatnot.

Which is why Leonora is protected so well from the Bulls in 6091, as they have obviously lost their own queen and are trying to take her. Good thing they don't know that Princess storm is a girl under that armour.

The soldiers and workers are left to their own devices for romantic inclinations. Which brings us to the coloured armour on the Jellybean knights in KKII. ;)

Kel.

(seriously though, I'd love more females too ... mostly princesses as it's easy to make different peasant women. I think however, that a sorceress would be a good companion for new crazy wizard. A dark queen, beautiful and terrible etc... to be both loved and feared ... you know)

If I didn't have a sense of humor, I'd take offense to that  .
It's fun to stay in the B-A-R-R-A-C-K-S... *not as catchy as I thought it would be*

I think the two would cancel each other out. Though it would be cool to see an updated Willa, albeit a better face. Someone attractive but with a smidgen of "come on, you know I'm evil" thrown in. If I wasn't such a purist when it comes to only selecting "yellow-skinned" minifigs, I'd buy the Poison Ivy minifig from BL just to have said sorceress/queen/what-have-you.

Believe me, coming from me, there's no way to take offense to that ... ;)
It does make me want to look for a picture of a minifig Village People though ...

I hear ya on that one, it's disappointing that some great faces are 'fleshies' now. I'm glad I picked up some some Star Wars figures while they were still yellow.

If TLC produced some medieval civilian sets, then that would be an excellent reason to include more female figs.
Most of the castle sets are focused on the military/soldier aspect, so naturally, females are almost nowhere to be seen.
We need civilian sets!!

I'd like a farm, butcher shop, watermill, windmill, armory, a medicinal or potion shop, etc.

Yea I agree but it will difficult to release that since most kids nowadays just want to hit two minifigs together. Also a Town and Castle theme have not been mixed together except for one set. Then again I could be wrong and this kind of hybrid theme will be released after the new Castle.

Except they can be damsels in distress, as seen in the new evil (or is that 3vil?) castle. Personally I'd have liked to see a second princess design for the prisoner in the wagon too...

Double, you, tea, F!? MATE!?

That's some pretty sexist smack you're talkin'. What's to prevent a woman from being a soldier?

In the middle ages, except with very rare cases (aka joan of arc), it just didn't happen. All of society was against it, and besides, realistically women, in general, physically didn't/don't have as much of the muscle building hormones during puberty that would make them effective at medieval style fighting.

Also, My fellow emperor, the last part of your post seemed... unessesary.

Actually, that's not entirely true. It depends on the time, place and customs, obviously. However, often times barren women were enlisted not as soldiers but for various other military duties. That's just the working class soldiers we're talking about. IN REALITY, during the middle ages, hundreds of thousands of men women and even children were FORCED to into bloody combat and to their grueling deaths due to slavery, or opression, or even personal conviction. There was no gentlemanly code of conduct that presided over all of europe throughout the middle-ages. Just in certain social orders. Anyway, if LEGO© was all about realism than we wouldn't have dragons and undead soldiers and evil shadow knights and catapults on top of castles etc etc, but LEGO© isn't about realism, it's about FUN. It's just based on a culture that came from that era.

Personally, I think it'd be a lot funner with more girls around. I know life usually always is! :D

Anyway, I'm not some know it all and I'm not trying to act like it, but that's the truth.

I think that Lego should make a feminine themed Lego line, so that other sets, (such as Castle) don't get ruined by a bunch of female minifigures.
