Brick Buckets in One Colour!
Brick Buckets in One Colour!
I wish LEGO sold Brick Buckets in one colour!
The great thing about the buckets is that you get so many elements for such a small price. For instance, the average price per element on the 4921 Red Bucket (4105 in US) is $.03 per element! That is a fantastic price, most themed sets will cost you $.09 to $.18 per element; thats 3 to 6 times the cost compared to buckets! As it is, most of my LEGO purchases are of the bulk buckets, I just can't pass up 450 elements for $15.99!
The problem with all buckets is the same thing: Every element is in a different colour! So many colours in the bucket means you only get a few elements of any one colour. Why-oh-why can't Lego just release SOME buckets in a single colour!
I tell you now, If LEGO released #4921 in all new grey, or white, I would buy 10 buckets right away!

If they released a bucket of grey, that would rock. I need to increase my bley collection quite a bit, and this would be a great way to do so.
I can't quite see Lego doing this, but hey, you never know!

Definitely. I really don't need all that red, blue, and yellow for my castles. I mean, if I was building a marketplace, it might be nice, but still, those would be stalls with thin plate-built awnings.... Anyway, the point among my ramblings is that a single —or even four-color (black, dk. & lt. bley, white)— tubs would be very nice. Especially light bley and white....*dreams*

Not a lot of play value in something like that. At least not for children, which is who Lego is marketed at. I couldn't imagine them having something like that for general retail sale.

I'd love a grey bucket. I'd also love a roof slope bucket (as long as it didn't come in black or red).

You know, maybe not in something like a single color, but what about a color scheme? like a primary color brick bucket for those that want it, and an "earth tones" bucket that had only tan, grey, brown, and green? I don't usually buy buckets because I have more than enough primary colors, but if they did come out with an earth tone bucket I'd buy several right away, and probably buy them periodically to add to my collection....Athos wrote:Not a lot of play value in something like that. That is one of the most excellent idea! You know, maybe not in something like a single color, but what about a color scheme? like a primary color brick bucket for those that want it, and an "earth tones" bucket that had only tan, grey, brown, and green?
While bucket bricks have good brick counts I myself usually skipped them for the colors they provided are simply too .... "basic" and hard to put into good use for AFOLs.
Since AFOLs are slowly and surely taking out more of LEGO's sales share may be they could try some advance brick bucket with color schemes, and contain more 1x2s and 1x1s than 2x4s and 2x3s you know?

I think that both of these are great ideas! The color scheme bucket sounds sweet! I like that idea. The advanced bucket is maybe a little more out o' reach, but we can hope.Fry_slayer wrote:That is one of the most excellent idea! You know, maybe not in something like a single color, but what about a color scheme? like a primary color brick bucket for those that want it, and an "earth tones" bucket that had only tan, grey, brown, and green?

Isn't this why they invented this thing called Pick-a-Brick? So you can CHOOSE the elements in a certain color that you want...

This is something I mention at every opportunity, when I get a survey from Lego, or talk to an ambassador, etc.
As Steve says, it might not have much marketing appeal. But I would be happy even if it's something I have to order direct, and it's got minimal packaging like some of the Lego Education stuff. I would be overjoyed if I could order 2000 assorted gray bricks for $40, and they arrive in a plain brown box.
It would be great if they'd go a little further than Legofreak's color scheme, and have themed buckets. I'd love to be able to get something like a "Landscaping bucket" that has a bunch of earth tone parts, as well as some flowers, foliage, etc. A castle bucket would be great too, with the aforementioned thousands of gray bricks, plus a fair amount of arches, round pieces, etc.

Sure, for those that live next to a store, or can order online.JPinoy wrote:Isn't this why they invented this thing called Pick-a-Brick? So you can CHOOSE the elements in a certain color that you want...
The nearest lego store to me is about two hours away, and for most it's even further. (at least mine is in the same state!)
Also for years I never ordered online, because I am a bit paranoid about it. (Nowadays not everyone is online you know. )

I agree this would be a good idea, mostly because I have never even seen a Lego store. The closest one is probably Toronto, maybe Ottawa, and thats about 30+ hours away by car.
wrap me in a bolt of lightning,
send me on my way still smiling,
maybe that's the way i should go:
straight into the mouth of the unknown....
