No Temple of Doom? Possible Contrary Indications?

Temple of Doom would have some of the best set options, certainly better than the Crystal Skulls stuff they barely pulled together out of old Adventurer set designs.

I count this official report Lame.

We'll probably get a really big and expensive Indy chess set encompasing all films, but thoughtfully skipping over Temple of Doom then, hmmm???
This.

Temple of Doom was a great Film.

No iconic vehicle scenes? I beg to differ! Mine car chase is the first thing that comes to mind. It's also a justification for Lego to fabricate some new colors in baseplate: red or orange (lava). For playability, I would expect the set to be a little more open, more like an extreme stunts set, with mine carts leaping from track to track. It can be done, Lego. Give it some thought!

The other iconic vehicle scene (albeit a short one) would be the airplane. All you would need to do this set is a good sized airplane (great reason to put out an airplane set!), a yellow raft, (chickens and a crate?) the two pilots, and the three main characters.

Other Temple of Doom sets??

How about the trap door room with all the bugs!!? This can be a small set.

I would expect the Temple of Doom altar to be a set! Is it a dark theme? Well, of course it is... but why would that be an issue for Lego? They already have plenty of guns in their sets and dark themes in castle. I'm not saying guns are inherently bad, but they have a purpose and it seems difficult for me to believe that Lego couldn't sanitize where necessary and still create a good set. I'd put the prince in this set, 2 villagers, 3 henchmen and their leader. 3 main figs, of course.

Elephant journey to the village. 1 elephant, 3 main figures, 1 villager, 1 village elder. Comes with a magic stone?

And the final scene at the bridge: 3 rifleman figs, 3 cult henchman figs + their leader, the 3 major characters, and 2 alligators. More magic stones.

There you have it! Now get to work, Lego. :D

Sounds like good ideas, but you've fallen prey to the standard error of all would-be set designers. Too many figures.

I agree. Duplicates can be cut back... but it is difficult to argue to remove main characters from a set. Maybe you can suggest a way to split them up.

Sure, I'll give it a go:

Bug Trap Room: small set, with lowering ceiling. Includes bugs, Indy, Short-Round and skeleton.

Elephant Journey: Includes Elephant, Willie and Indy, plus a little jungle scenery.

Bridge Battle: collapsing bridge built between two burp platforms, over a blue plate. Includes, Mola Ram, Indy, one Thugee, alligators.

Temple of Doom: includes a burp platform, with trans-red/orange baseplates at bottom front. Cage with wench to lift and lower through trap door. Simple brickbuilt statue of Kali (similar to annubites in Well of Souls set) with glow-in-the-dark or yellow gems. Includes, Indy, Willie (as cage victim) Mola Ram, Short-Round and if we're lucky, though probably not, a Thugee or Prince.

Plane Crash (would be hard to do, with all the figures needed): plane similar to island hopper, but can hold raft inside. Indy, Willie and Shorty all sit in raft, which fits inside of plane and can be dropped out. Also maybe includes only one pilot (though probably none, as it could be explained as depicting the scene after pilots jump), plus (oh please, oh please) a shipment of live poultry.

Plus some others:

Club Obi-Wan: Two nightclub tables. Small bandstand with gong and stand that holds two OE swords. And one wall piece with breakaway window. Includes, Lao Che, Indy, Willie and maybe one bad guy with tommy gun.

Car Chase: Includes car that holds Indy, Willie and Shorty. Maybe has an awning for Indy and Willie to slide off. Some crates for crashing into.

I don't know what to do about the mine chase and am not really feeling like thinking it out right now. :P

The only thing to stay away from in an official set would be the stone grinder fight and the slave kids. Other than that, it is no more dark a theme than the others. Truthfully, the other films have Nazi villans, which are the LEGO soldiers, so which is worse is like asking what kind of poison you want to drink. Ridiculous!

Good work on imagination-ing Athos and Peppermint Pig, I hereby promote both of you to my LEGO Hostile Takeover Corporate Mutiny Set Design Board. :P

This set is from the new Indiana Jones movie. LEGO currently has not made any sets from the second IJ movie, Temple of Doom.

As far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing. That one was soooooo creepy. And they might have hit a stumbling block over the whole child slavery, voodoo, removing a man's heart from his chest as a sacrifice thing.

What? I can't believe it. I was looking forward to Temple of Doom sets. I understand that Lego is generally aiming at a younger audience and I agree that they probably shouldn't have people's hearts being ripped out and then being burned alive but I cant believe they skipped the whole movie. I mean in Raiders of the Lost Ark a man gets ripped to shreds by an airplane propeller and people are vaporized by a spirit but they just skipped over that and made other scenes. Why can't they do that with The Temple of Doom? :?

Overall, I am very dissapointed to hear this. :x

Because the scene with the airplane is offscreen. Implied. Not shown.

And the entire second movie revolves around the evil temple. Raiders of the Lost Ark doesn't revolve around the very end when everyone dies. If that makes sense...

That MOC is cool, but that's exactly what I'm talking about. Lego would have some serious problems if they created that. I mean, notice how they didn't make the Nazis gray? They took out the place in time of the story in order to make it more appealing and more PC.
