A minifig hat I would love to have

Mickey Mouse ears.

Wouldn't that be fun? I rate the chances that TLC will ever make such an item at very slim to none, even with the upcoming Disney licenses, but you never know. I just thought I'd throw it out there for discussion.

As a castler, a pirate builder and any other areas I may build..which does include town. I honesty can say I have zero use for such a hat.

I'd much rather LEGO build useful molds.

It would be cool if Lego came out with a Town/City Line called 'Theme Park' with roller coasters sets, vending stands, etc.

Maybe with the new Disney tie-in line we could get one...

I'd rather have a cat eared or bunny eared hairpiece. :tasty:

Way back when, Suz posted some mock-up fake sets from a hypothetical Disneyland theme:
Suz's Lugnet post

A quick Brickshelf search shows there have been several great MOCs:
SALUG Disneyland layout
train station
Pirates of the Caribbean
restaurant inside the PotC
Sleeping Beauty castle
another SB castle
Cinderella castle

Such a theme could be really cool if done well.* Great chance for cross-promotion with one of the best sales-machines out there, plus sales at the Disney stores and in the parks. There is already some sort of relationship because there are big LEGO Imagination Centers outside of both Disney parks in the US (no idea about Euro and Tokyo), plus I know they used to sell all of the LEGO Star Wars sets in the shop you enter when you leave the Star Tours ride at Disneyland. Those signature rides at Disneyland are decades old, so this is not a flash in the pan idea like many licensed themes. They could even revive the old Duplo Winnie the Pooh and system Mickey and Minnie molds for costumed characters in the parks.

Anyway, mouse ears would be a natural addition in such a theme.

Bruce

*Wow, can't believe I'm writing one of the "LEGO should make a _____ theme" posts.

Well, there's Catwoman's hood and the Nesquik Bunny head.

Anyway, Bruce, I have done a lot of fantasizing about LEGO picking up a Disney theme park license. There are so many opportunities for awesome builds there, both structures and vehicles, and the potential for crossover with existing lines is immense.

Unfortunately, those don't work very well for Nekomimi or other Kemonomimi. :(

Very true Dano. When will our brave adventurers get a loyal cat-girl sidekick/friend/other? Cat/bunny ear pieces would add to the fantasy theme nicely.

Man I think Lego would be very wise to stay far away from anime... catgirls in particular. The subculture tied to them could be an issue for kid toys.

As far as mouse ears and such... I guess if Lego and Disney have such a deal why not? A nice new gift idea for Disney to sell in their gift shops. To be fair I have little use for them but could see them as a decent gift shop item.

That doesn't seem like a good reason to not make them. The sub-culture can be applied to anything. Who cares if the soccer moms don't like it? :?

The subculture is certainly important in marketing a kid’s toy, its naïve to think otherwise. Especially with anime which in the last few years has some very adult stuff out in regards to violence and sexual context or both and shows only signs of increasing. When the subculture is a prevalent and clear as catgirl/Kemonomimi with adult themed media, Lego should be very wary of them. Remember Lego is a children’s toy primarily. If TLC relies on kids toys for money they'd better care what the soccer moms think since they are the ones footing the bill! Just because you do not mind does not change it. It is what the 90% plus of the market that has Lego products at home have parents who would not likely approve that counts. I’d doubt they’d make any Lego set that would be unsellable to children as a general policy, just does not make sense for a toy maker.

If you’d like to talk more on this PM me but I’d rather not hijack the post any further.

There would really be no point, so no thanks.

As for the mickey mouse hat, you probably won't ever see that, but possibly a Mickey Mouse if Lego continues with the Disney license.

Thank you. This thread is about mickey ears, not anime. Any further reference to it, and it shall be locked.
