mid-sized castle
dear lego
i'd love to see a good mid sized castle set along the lines of say soldier's fort, with 400-600 parts in the 40-70 dollar range. Such a castle would be a fantastic modern equivalent to classics as the 6086, and thus should use the retro 32x32 footprint, be four-walled(or of a unique design), and well garisoned.
Put another way I am asking for more sets along the lines of dwarf mine and skeleton ship attack.

Re: mid-sized castle
Great idea! Oh and i would also like these sets since the ones we have now cost alot and are tricky to use in mocs. (Yes i always try to put the lego castles i buy into a moc) And they aren't really good looking. They are bulky and hinged , but the 6086 wich i own and adore is nice looking and very fun to try putting in to a moc and basically fun to build with and play with.

Re: mid-sized castle
Something the size of Black Falcon's Fortress would be great!
Re: mid-sized castle
That was exactly what I was thinking when I saw this post. I liked the Tower Raid and the new Drawbridge set looks good, but they seem smaller. The trade off is that the new sets are more detailed and use smaller parts instead of the castle wall panels. Personally, I am okay with the wall panels in some sets if it means we get a mid sized castle along the lines of the Black Falcon Fortress now and then.Username wrote:Something the size of Black Falcon's Fortress would be great!

Well, in fairness both the Tower Raid and the Drawbridge Defence are smaller. The Tower Raid of course must also contend with the fact that most of the parts are being used for the troll seige engine. The set that is probably the closest in size to the BFF was the Skeleton Tower. I also think that a few more castle structures would be nice, but I'm not sure if castles themselves are actually popular with kids.Tyrant wrote:That was exactly what I was thinking when I saw this post. At the end of the day, we'll get what we'll get is probably the healthiest attitude to have when it comes to LEGO Castle.

Re: mid-sized castle
If we'd all taken the 'get what we get' attitude over the last few years, how much cool stuff would we not have gotten?

Re: mid-sized castle
I also think a mid-sized castle should be made. It could be excellent for parts and minifigs and could be the size of one of the classic castle sets.It could maybe have a small market stand and a few peasents for us

Re: mid-sized castle
I will definitely pass along this excellent feedback to Lego. A mid range ($50-60 USD) castle would be a great way to get kids into castle if their parents can not afford a $100 castle. Something similar in size to any of these sets would be great:

Re: mid-sized castle
As I said earlier, I would prefer it to be a fortress like Black Falcon's Fortress: a castle structure with some tudor style building elements.

Re: mid-sized castle
I could not agree more! Castles like the old Knights Castle, BF Castle even the King's Mountain Fortress were great. Having a number of different sized castles would clearly make those who cannot afford the most expensive Castle set of the year still be able to acquire a castle. Further, for those who want variety these smaller castles are a nice change and allow for some diversity in ones Lego realm. While the gates, walls, bridges and tower sections Lego has been making have been nice I think this would be a nice addition to the castle line. Some of my favourite castles Lego has come out with are these medium sized castles.
I like the wall panels so bring on the classic castle goodness!

Thanks for repeating that point, it wasn't quite clear the first timeUsername wrote:As I said earlier, I would prefer it to be a fortress like Black Falcon's Fortress
I'm just messing with you, seriously though, I agree that a small fully enclosed fort would be great, not just for nostalgic reasons, but so a child whos parents have less of a budget can still play siege. Siege is just not the same when you have a wall that your enemies can just walk around.

Yeah, probably should have edited my first post with the Tudor comment, but hey, I just love the BFF.Aliencat wrote: Thanks for repeating that point, it wasn't quite clear the first time

Re: mid-sized castle
Maybe it could the mid-sized fort, and an addon to KCS! This way, you can, of course, make your castle larger and better with it still being able to make its own little outpost. Just trying to throw in ideas

Re: mid-sized castle
DO+1, this was indeed true for the Black Falcon's Fortress also, you could hinge it open, and attach the wall ends to for example 6080 King's Castle to make a big castle, but as a stand-alone fort Black Falcon's Fortress also holds its own. That would be the perfect balance for a new small fort.
