Dear Lego;

we'd dearly love some 2010 castle news.

Even if they're giving the theme a rest for a year, it would be nice to know for sure.

If they do it will probably be for a few years at least. I really hope the Castle theme stays but if it doesn't due to poor sales etc then Lego can only blame themselves because the Castle theme is the most naturally suited to Lego brick building more than any other theme.

And why do you figure that?

Steve Witt has told us that Castle is one of the "evergreen" themes. One that they have around in some fashion or another pretty much the whole time. It is conceivable that they might have it on rest for a year, but not more than one.

If they were to temporarily replace the castle theme with something else then I would guess it would have to run it's 2-3 year course like every other temporary theme. If Lego just decides not to release any new castle sets for a year and keeps selling the current line of sets then I would assume they would take that 1 year time to ready a new line of castle sets.

I personally hope that they stick with the current Castle theme, as I love the Trolls and Dwarves. Most of all, I'd love to see some more set pictures.

:wave: No news thanks. My wallet will wait patiently. It'll be fun, just like per-internet. I walk into a store, or get a catalog in the mail, and BAM.

Well, he did call Pirates an "evergreen" theme at one point so the word means a theme they will come back to regularly not a theme that will have sets every year. :sly:

I love the Castle theme dearly, but I am not as big a fan of it's current assortment. Locations and buildings are wonderful, I love them in this line and those we've been given are beyond great, but I tire of the constant battle sets that have no tactical landmarks within a "castle". The siege engines of the Trolls and Crowns and Skellies are well made... but they need more places to bring the battle home. The Troll Fort is just not at all inspiring when I look across the themes at what City main and exclusive assortments are available, and we only have the two buildings of the Medieval Market Village to defend for our little yellow people. In the future of Castle, I want more Castle Theme places to visit that produce market capital for the Royal Crown (whoever that might be) and if there must be a battle, let it be around those sets. Targeted prices need to be between $29 to $99 (USD) for main sets, with more in the middle/lower end of that range and more available impulse to $10 sets that offer good parts/people.

Bottom line is I don't think I can keep going in my beloved Castle theme collecting if there are no places of business, dwelling, farming, merchandise exchange and questing knights. Sets need to work together like the City Theme sets do, IMHO, to forge a Castle community (and to keep those of us in our virtual community).

2 pence.

I posted in general Lego that I thought maybe the Prince of Persia sets were replacing Castle for 2010, because there are two sets that are a castle and a tower, 7573 Battle of Alamut(the castle) and 7571 fight for the Dagger(an add-on tower)read Discriptions on Amazon.com, type in 'Lego brand Prince of Pursia'.

It's been confirmed that there are no plans for elves for the near future. Apparently the picture on the map was just there for flavor. Too bad for us.

There will not be elf sets. Quiet already. :)
