I can still hope... I guess.

mystuffiscool,
That map was made as a background for a promotional image, and the elf thing was drawn by someone completely unrelated to the department that was developing the Fantasy Era Castle line. The elf was used as a kind of filler for the map, not intending to implicate that there would be elves in Castle in the future.
After seeing this image, fans have speculated for almost 2 years (but I guess this was before you joined) about the possibility of elves, until Steve Witt from LEGO Community Development confirmed that there are no plans to release elves in the Fantasy Era Castle line, and explained where the drawing in the map came from.

On this forum alone there are countless threads already about the possibility of elves, and the conclusion really is that at this time there are no plans to release any elf sets. Sorry to disappoint you, but it's a sad truth that the rest of the fans on this forum have already accepted during the wave of elf set discussions.

The image is over a year old. I pretty sure we'd have seen more clues in 14 months than just that. And then what AlienCat mentioned.

True but since we have no clues as to what is coming 2010 for castle it could be anything... Seems like every year they are getting more and more closed mouth on what the upcoming castle year will look like.

Excuse me,

I was acting rather immature, and please forgive me for not removing the idea of elves from my mind.

With all due respect,

Hey man, go ask your mom or dad what a 'back-handed apology' is and see if you just made one right there....

I have a reliable source that tells me there will be at least one or two sets in the second half of 2010. :)

I will not say more, out of respect for the brick. ;)

I'd buy that for a dollar.

My reliable source is better than Dano's, he says we're getting new pink unicorns for the Castle theme.

Hey, everything's true until proven otherwise.

According to KimT on Eurobricks, There will be impulses and a new castle. He has seen pics for several of the lines, including Star Wars, and is a guy you can trust. However, he did not mention whether or not this will be part of the Fantasy Era or not. :(

At least we know there will be Castle.

Dano, is there anything you can tell us about the future sets? Just wanted to know!

The closer we get to Toy Fair, the more patient I'm feeling. Then when we get to about two weeks away, I'll be feeling the most impatient.

I'm really hoping for a new large castle. The timing seems to be right since the Kings Castle Siege is getting hard to find so I'm guessing that 2009 will be the last year that set is available for retail purchase. I really hope the new castle is more intricate that the more recent efforts and has a unique design that includes a gate house for the first time in over a decade.
Classic castle fan to the core!

More info over at EB says the impulse with the wizard has a Norbert style dragon in dark bley and another impulse will be a red and white jester. Interesting....

All I want is a simple request:

An Impulse set with 1x peasant, 1x brown cow, 1x brown fence and 1x PITCHFORK!
