What New Heraldry Do You Want?

I think unicorn is so duplo of any reason, someone else?

Considering there WAS a Unicorn shield in a previous set, and that the Kingdoms lines has Unicorns, I think of KK2 and Kingdoms, not Duplo.

Did Duplo have Unicorns? I'll have to check.

Not in the heraldry, but they had the same sort of armored horse helmet as the new Kingdoms line. Technically, I would probably argue that the unicorn envisioned in heraldry would be a... uh... unicorn-- a naked horse with a horn, perhaps rearing or maybe even "holding" something like a flag or a weapon. The ones we've seen so far I would think of as horses with armored helmets. So far, these have shown up in 3 places I can see:

1) 2006 Knights Kingdom 2 (2 sets)

2) 2008 Duplo Castle (3 sets)

3) 2010 Kingdoms (3 sets)

I don't know, I think we're missing out on a key faction. The leprechauns! The four leaf clover would be awesome, and we could get new bagpipe pieces and green minifig parts! They could combat travelers looking for their gold! And we could put a unicorn in some sort of enchanted forest set! No...? Oh, well!

Anyway, I would like to see the griffin the most with the unicorn second.
I'm thinking that it would be cool if Kingdoms could have two new factions in different colors farther down the road with such heraldry. Not sure what the colors would be. I'm thinking Purple and Yellow, but that sounds outrageous when you think about it.

But still, griffin gets my vote.

I had a hard time not choosing 9. Everything except the Wizard's Hat. If I had to rate them:

10 - Griffin

8 - Thorned Rose

1 - Wizard Hat

I would like to see all of them, even the wizards hat. I figured 2 choices would make it interesting, kind of like being the person in charge of the next line of Lego Castle. You have to pick 2 new factions for the next line...

I don't like the HP stag shield. It's really a matter of how the heraldry is executed in the end. Having them too detailed or just plain bad is worse than having one that is meh to begin with. I wouldn't rate any of the choices higher than a 3 in what I'd want to see, until I saw what they would look like. Even then, I still wouldn't want half of the choices given. Some people aren't happy with having Lions again, but I think the newest version is the best one yet. I'd even take the Duplo Lion Emblem if that was going to be next. Color combo and style can make or break a design.

One of the most common customized arms I think I've seen has been the crusaders' cross -- red on a white field. I could see the sense in adding it to the list. I voted for the Rooster and the Griffin.

P.S. On second thought, thinking about what the crusaders' cross actually represents historically, and the modern tensions between the west and Islamic lands, I would explicitly advise against having a crusaders cross.

OK, so the new line Lego released looks pretty nice, but I'm a little disappointed that they are doing Lions again. The dragon heraldry looks good, but is still a redo.

So, what animal, creature or symbol would you like to see that hasn't been done before? (I am leaving out real world religious symbols because I don't think Lego will ever do them...)

I think this is a great idea. It would be nice to see a flood of different coats of arms come coming out. Personally, I've never thought much of the idea of "factions." When I think of the castle line, I envision grand medieval tornaments where every single knight has his own coat of arms. With the latest catalogues encouraging customers to "Collect them all!" when it comes to minifigures, perhaps LEGO might consider series of collectible knights. Maybe small-sized sets with just a standard knight, horse and squire, but with two or three different coats of arms every year.

While unlikely, I think it would be a great turn for the Castle line to take.

Heraldry? How about some shields first? (really TLG we need more shields in the sets)
Hmm... griffin or crossed swords... I'd say griffin, so TLG can have another animal be the opposing army's heraldry.
I think kids like having animals on the flags and shields rather then swords and towers, and sadly (but naturally) kids dictate what sells.
