No Kingdoms in 2012?

With Barnes & Noble having released the prices for all their 2012 LEGO sets, does this mean that there will definately not be another wave of Kingdoms sets even at the end of 2012? (I'm assuming this is ok to talk about since it's not rumours)

If so, what will Castle fans be spending their money on (or perhaps a chance to catch some of the current line on sale)?

(I toyed with the idea of putting the title as "No Kingdoms (for old men) in 2012" but didn't now how many would get the reference :? ).

EDIT: Apologies, it seems I was a bit hasty in assuming this was a list of ALL their sets, rather than just the first wave... man that's a whole lotta LEGO...

I think that list only has the winter wave sets and does not include the summer wave.

*fingers crossed for summer Kingdoms sets*

hi

On a post i created recently about a new jester. Tiberian Blue mentioned in one of the reply's that there would be an exclusive joust set. So If he is right and i want to believe, there will be more Kingdoms in the future.

Hoping is all we can do for know, lol.

Beside (and i'm just wandering) there is still a faction leader (dragons) to be oficialy anounced (it's assumed that the grren wizard is the leader) and there isin't yet a red wizard for the Lions faction.

A couple of quick thoughts:
\

Second: beware incomplete lists! We have often been surprised in the past by second and third waves of sets, special for-Christmas releases, sets anticipated in January but available in November, etc. So I would be extremely hesitant to sound the death-knell of Kingdoms without some clear indication from LEGO. Look to the Toy Fair displays in January/February for a more complete (but still not exhaustive) listing of each year's offerings.

LEGO has repeatedly noted 'Castle' as one of it's mainstay themes. Yes, we've had a couple of years with no main line, notably the gap between KK1 and KK2, but even in those years we had some amazing special offers - rereleases of the Guarded Inn, the Black Falcons' Fortress, and the Siskind Blacksmith Shop. So I wouldn't worry too much.

Seems like every year we get a "no more Castle sets thread." :spin: Usually its based on one "source" of info. My advice if anyone gets the no more Castle panic is to: first-take a deep breath, second-wait at least a month, third-look on this site for any posts on that vein (should be looking here anyway) and if you don't find any then your analysis is missing something.

If Barnes & Noble isn't listing any Castle sets for 2012 then look at Target or Toys R Us. Barnes & Noble could just not be buying any for their own reason. Maybe FOLs have been buying so many at the TRU BOGO sale that TRU bought all of 2012. Just one out of many possibile reasons.

The third year of a LEGO Castle product line usually features a smaller number of retail sets (3-4) and the potential for a direct to consumer (Shop at Home set). Occasionally exclusive sets are also produced in these years for a retailer (Toys R Us, Walmart, Target, etc).

Early leaks do violate the CC TOS. Leaks in the late summer or fall typically show the January sets and not core product line sets (City, Castle, Space) that are released in late Spring or early Summer.

This thread is about set speculation and belongs in the Dear LEGO forum. I will move it there.

Thank you for your replies. Having taken a breath and read your comments I realise that my assumption may have been in haste. Even if TLG were releasing castle sets in the early part of the year (hypothetically) it wouldn't necessarily appear on the barnes and noble list as I find castle sets generally hard to find in retail shops (in the UK that is, I'm looking at you TRU and Argos) so they may have just chosen not to stock the theme.

Now that I'm more updated on Lego set release patterns I'm making a vain attempt to not look like a panic posting noob.

So is this classed as a leak or not? As is seems to include a number of core line sets (city, star wars) which I'm assuming aren't just january releases? I remain confused and just want to be clear on what I can and cannot discuss.

Yes it does. The best thing you can do if you are not sure if something is a leak or not is private message one of the staff, but specifically the admins. They will look into it and let you know.

I can clarify some of what is a leak. Any image with a confidential stamp on it IS a leak and is not permitted to be posted or linked to our forum. Discussion of those images also is not permitted. We do have threads about the forum about leaks, that can help you. But as I said, the best thing to do when you are not sure is to contact one of us and we will get back to you with whether it is okay or not to post.

Would the LOTR line count as a castle theme? If so then we have one.

@matuku13, some folks will personally classify it as a Castle line and others will disagree.
In general I suspect most folks will NOT classify LOTR as a Castle line for a number of reasons.

I definitely do NOT classify LOTR as Castle myself.
Primarily my reasons are:
LEGO doesn't list it as Castle on their website nor does it have any Castle branding.
It's a licensed line, and as such it contains 'fleshies' for the minifigures.

Bottom line for me in regards to LOTR, it's just NOT Castle although it'd be easy to re-purpose most of the parts quite easily. At this point of the year we have the Joust and the Kingdom's Chess sets as the available castle sets, which honestly is still better than I had originally feared we have at this point after LOTR was confirmed.

LOTR is like fantasy era or Knights and Kingdom. Its not kingdoms, since kingdoms doesnt have fantasy stuff.
I dont believe that we are going to see any other kingdoms products.. After LOTR I think we will see some new kingdoms line (realistic castle line) with new factions.. My hope is the revisit of black falcons as good ones and one new bad one.

I just hope we can get some non-combat themed sets in the fantasy/historical era again.
