Guys you all know this is not going to happen, not as single minifgs or in themed packs. Lego just don't do that. And I actually think they are right not to as they as specifically colelctible minifgs and if they would reissue them then it would completely devalue all the series

As mentioned, TLG are bringing out a CMF 'all-stars' set for VIP's (or at least announced they would, though things have gone a bit quiet...) so if it does well, I guess they would do the same for the next 4 series and so on.

Yes but what is being discussed here is a general sale of many figures, that is a limited thing for VIP's which I don't believe will translate into lego making multipacks or re-releasing any other minfigs except maybe 4-6 and 7-9 1 figure for VIP's

Yes, and as I discussed after the voting happened, the figs that were selected were different from the first figs due to not having the pieces to make them exactly the same. For example, the mummy's scorpion is now gold instead of dark red. And there are other changes. In fact, speculation was that the figs in this set were limited to the ones they could reproduce, not necessarily the ones that got voted on. In fact this is a direct quote from the voting email:
"Please be aware that while every best effort will be made to exactly replicate the minifigures from the series range, if the winning minifigures contain parts no longer in production, we will look to find the closest looking pieces as a replacement part, and if no suitable replacement parts are readily available, we will substitute the minifigure(s) in question with runners-up."
So, having said and examined all of that. Will they ever re-release others as people are requesting? I have no idea. I just saw some of the girl figs made into magnets...which is not necessarily helpful AT ALL...because they are glued.

But, I with all that in consideration, I don't see the odds of this happening being very great.

They did recently come out with a Beach-themed minifig pack didn't they? Maybe that's an indicator that CMF fig packs by theme aren't totally out of the question.

A Spartan, Roman, Elf, Dwarf, pack would sell for days. You could add a viking or gladiator just as easily. The current pack out doesnt make a lot of sense. I can't see spending $15 just to get an elf. I appreciate the effort, just seems a bit ill-concieved. Almost alike a half attempt.

A monster pack (mummy, Zombie, frankenstien, etc..) would even make more sense.

Allowing people to purchase specific figures would be tough because retailers would be stuck with unsold stock. No matter what, there will always be some figures that are more popular than others

Between the series 1-2 barcodes, the dots on the bottoms of the bags, and the ability to feel through the plastic, consumers who want to know what's in the bag can figure it out. The problems with this are that retailers have people excessively fondling their unsold merchandise and consumers often has a 0% chance of getting the figures they want. I think it would be best for buyers and sellers if these blind-buy figures truly were blind. Maybe use a rigid box instead of a bag?

I try to get 3 sets of each series. 1 to collect, 1 to play with, and 1 to keep sealed for some unknown purpose. I spent hours examining packs in stores to do this with series 2, 4, and 5, never saw a pack of Series 1, and was unable to find enough 3 and 6 to accomplish this. Starting with Series 7, I decided that buying a case was the simplest approach; it includes 3 full sets + extras to trade/sell and the price is lower.

I'd suggest buying or splitting a case to anybody who wants to collect sets. For army building, do a lot of trading. Maybe try signing up for a non-castle forum (like Space) to do some trades. People on other sites often have less interest in the historical themes, and it would give you a place to dump your space marines and aliens.

But wouldn't Lego lose customers? I wouldn't purchase any of these if I wasn't guaranteed what I want was what I was getting, and I'm sure others are the same way. I sure hope they stay in polybags.

The only way I have been able to ensure I have gotten exactly the ones I wanted was to first order or purchase a whole case. Once I had the time to privately figure out which were what on my own time, then returning to a store once they were in stock made the bag-feel simple enough to find a couple more to round out what I wanted to do.

Even though I have what I want, those secretive little baggies just sitting there with unknown contents are enough to draw me in to check them out... and I always leave the store with more than I originally intended. It's like a drug to know there is some unique thing lurking there unseen.

I purchased dozens of Series 2 before I realized they could be identified by barcode or touch. I can't be alone here; I don't think it matters that much.

If specific figures cannot be guaranteed at retail, there would be increased demand for individual figures on bricklink/ebay, and those sellers will have bought the figures sealed. Overall sales wouldn't likely change much, but the increase in secondary market re-selling would increase the average figure price. Once the average figure price rises on the secondary market, gambling on a blind-buy becomes more tempting, and people do more trading. Everything settles into a new balance.

Speaking from personal experience, trading is a lot more fun than creeping out customers and employees while fondling bags for an hour, and I think the original intent was for each bag to be a mystery rather than a waste of time.

Say what you will about collectable or rarity, but a Spartan battle pack just wins. They don't have to have it be only figures from the CMF series, but just like historical themes, or fantasy.

Hey,

As noted in this thread LEGO seems to have already started to address this idea, with three sets out now that include three figs that are mostly variants on the CMFs and a few bricks to make a scene:
Beach party - surfer boy, surfer girl, hula girl
Graveyard - witch, zombie, ghost
Rock concert - punker, rocker girl, rapper
Of course, as I note in that thread the dream set would be the centurion, spartan and gladiator.

I think this just goes to show we can never say never....

The reissues may irk collectors a little, but seeing that these two new packs don't seem to be direct copies of CMFs (other than the witch) I'm guessing most purchasers will just like that they can buy some cool looking figs at a decent price.

The CMF witch is not really that different than the witch's that came before so I'd say this new witch isn't so much a copy of th CMF it's just continuing their witch style motif.
Build? I merely Acquire atm.
