Dear LEGO - Other decades-old irrelevant license ideas

Hey guys,

Apparently there is credible news that LEGO is considering a Simpsons license. So, what other decades-old irrelevant licenses would you like to see? I've got some ideas:

Law and Order - The original, not SVU (that's still on TV and therefore way too relevant for this). With 20 years of episodes there's lots to draw from - mob hits, kidnaps, legal shenanigans, the sets build themselves! Personally I want the set where the cop figs botch a search and the judge fig throws out the evidence, so the Adam Schiff fig comes in and tells the Ben Stone fig to make a deal.

X-Files - The truth is out there. This LEGO license could go along being really cool for a few years and then just sort of peter out into nothingness.

Little House on the Prairie - I'm actually kind of serious with this one, as it would give some great civilian settings to go along with the Western and now Lone Ranger themes - covered wagon, farm, general store, one-room schoolhouse, etc would help round out a Western layout.

Star Trek, the Next Generation - Okay, this one is also a serious consideration. It's precluded by the Star Wars license, presumably, but this is has a similar long-term fan base. Of course the Kirk/Spock/Bones version would also be a viable option. Personally I'd like to see them do Iain Heath's version.

Six-Million Dollar Man - We can rebuild him. We have the bricks.

Indiana Jones - ... oh, sorry, been there, done that ...

So, what do you think? What other once-popular source material could be resurrected to make a future LEGO theme?

Well since we aren't sticking to kid-friendly themes (Simpsons is NOT a 5-12 yr old show!), what about the "Rocky" movie series?

Sets could include Rocky jogging up the stairs, running behind his trainers truck, speed-bag session, and of course, all of the title fights.

Yo, Adrian! :tasty:

Ooh, excellent idea. You forgot one, though:

... chasing a chicken!* Mickey: "First, because I said so. And second, is because chicken-chasing is how we used to train back in the old days."

Here's another idea - Twilight Zone - Tons of great set ideas could be built around classic episodes. So what if almost no current LEGO builder was born when this was on - the Sci-Fi Network loves to run this as a marthon on Thanksgiving and New Years, so I'm sure people would recognize the material. Stewardess, there's a minifig on the wing!

Bruce

*BTW, that suggests a great vig idea for someone who has the boxer and chicken-man Collectible figs. I have neither, so I'll leave that to someone else to build.

They could do them up all in the black and white and grey bricks.

My list that would belong on this thread is...well probably going to be different.

I would like them to get some of the Hanna Barbera cartoons...Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Jetsons...that list goes on and on and would make me smile.

If we are going cartoons, then I want some Warner Brother classics too...Pepe Le Pew, Bugs and all the gang.

If we are going to discuss Star Trek, then why limit it to just TNG? GO for the whole license (but another company owns this).

I know all you boys would just adore to get some GI Joe LEGO.

And why not go after Sesame Street?

And it is just a matter of time before someone brings up Back to the Future.

Then there are the unlimited list of Disney films that could be used...or even Disney characters. And since they own the Muppet now, sure lets go there too. (We could get more chickens that way.)

Labyrinth? Willow? (Great movie by the way) Alien..oh ew...no thank you.

Flash Gordon! Quarterback, New York Jets! They would have to include a Freddy Mercury minifig for the background music and a hawkmen battlepack. DIIIIIIIVE!

Krull. Who doesnt want a Glaive??

Smurfs would lend itself well to Lego. I think we can all agree their would be some pretty sweet parts! Mushroom roofs anyone?

Godfather Don Corleon minifig ftw!

but seriously.. Muppets. Piiigs in spaaaaace.

oh and blue.. I am with you! (Labyrinth Willow)

Ooh, great ideas all around. I wouldn't call Disney movies an irrelevant license since Disney is so good at repackaging and re-releasing titles in a way that makes them seem like new events. The various princess movies in particular are freshly relevant with each new generation of little girls (spoken from the perspective of a dad of two little girls), as of course LEGO recognizes with the DUPLO Disney Princess sets (I'd love to see them do System versions of these).

If they ever did Hanna Barbera, I want Blue Falcon and Dynomutt! Actually they could just do Laffalympics and that would include everyone.

Love the Godfather idea! Think of the sets! I'd say they design one around each death. Luca Brasi and some fish! Sonny at the toll booth! Fredo in a rowboat! The pope! Moe Greene at the massage parlor!

How has no ones said Doctor Who?!?

I would also LOVE to see a Stargate theme. I am also in agreement with the Star Trek.

Horatio Hornblower would also get my attention VERY fast.

Two reasons: 1) I knew you would, 2) I don't want it. :P

And I was serious about my whole list...no point in joking around about stuff you want to see.

I would seriously like a line of classic castle movies...Robinhood, Ivanhoe, the Court Jester, Three Musketeers...etc...mmmm classic movies.

AND...I want me some Keebler elves and some of Santa's elves!

AND..ZOO!
