Do you think that TLG will bring back the Elephant?

So I've been thinking about ordering an Elephant from BL, but the cheapest one in the USA is $30!

Do you think that TLG will ever bring them back? I'm wondering if they might make a reappearance in a future LoTR set featuring Mûmakil (known as "Oliphaunts" by Hobbits). If so, maybe I'll hold out hope and save my money for now.

You know AK, murphys law will dictate that as soon as you bricklink it, lego group will anounce that set. However if you dont buy it now the price will keep going up and it will never be released again! Oh the decisions...

It is certinly intresting but i dont think it was a big success. I would love to see the lotr set but we will just have to see if they do it.

I really don't think they will bring them back(at least not soon). There doesn't seem to be a big demand for Elephants. If they do bring them back it will be for a new theme of Lego probably featuring lots of new animals but hey we can still hope.

I would adore if they brought them back. I have exactly two. One has a broken ear from it's trip back and forth to Brickcon. Even the ear costs something like $8. Hence, why I haven't replaced it yet. I am all in favor of bringing it back.

Do you think this thread should be in "dear lego?"

I certainly could be. I was more interested in other people's speculation on future sets as opposed to "yes, please bring back the elephant", but it could fit into the DL subforum if you'd prefer. :)

Ak i think it could easily go in both forums, the sets forum so we could speculate what they could do. And the dear lego forum, as a dear lego please bring back the elephant. Dear lego please make a set from this scenein LOTR, dear lego please make a city zoo set, and the list can go on!

I would love that scene in lotr to be made into a set.

They brought back the dragons from previous themes (KK1?) for the current castle line, so it seems feasible that the elephant mold could be reinstated, and it seems like the LOTR line would be the most obvious spot to bring it back at this time, particularly since we are progressing toward that part of the story with the most recent sets, I think (though it has been a long time since I read the books or watched the movies, so I could be wrong about that).

No you are correct ak, thats where the sets seem to be. If i remember it is the very begining of return of the king that they come into play. They are also in the last battle scene that we got the ship from so here is to keeping the fingers crossed!

I want an elephant too. I just can't pull myself to spend $30 on one though. I have had it in my cart several times, and just cannot pull the trigger. They are cool. If they do bring back elephants I can't see them using the ones we have. The mumakil would probably be much too large to MOC with, at least that's my opinion.

I wish they would! I have none. Mark is so lucky to have as many as he does. I wish they would bring them back so I can make war elephants.

Hey Blue, I found this from Ben in an older thread:
architect wrote:All speculation threads belong in the Dear LEGO forum. I will move this topic there. The Sets forum is reserved for actual released castle sets.

(Plus, people have moved more in the "that would be awesome, I hope they do" direction anyway)

You can move this to "Dear LEGO" when you get a chance. Thank you :)

I really hope so, but I want a large brick-built Oliphaunt, kinda like the Star Wars AT-AT walkers, if you know where I'm going here :)
I think, if LEGO decides to make castle/Arabian type theme that's not another Lions vs. Dragons, they may bring them back then, but looking slightly updated (a little better). I think that would be a real seller of a theme, and if there were elephants... well, I'd buy loads!

I hope they do. I have a couple of them. Two of each color I think, though one of them has a broken ear.

I think AK should buy one, so Lego will release the set.

Haha, that's one way of looking at it! Maybe once I get my first paycheck from my new job, I'll take one for the team and order one up :tasty:

It might actually be cheaper to buy the set it came from other than the actual elephant itself. I did that once as a gift for good old Elephant Knight. I don't remember if I kept the set and just gave him the elephant. Either way, it was a good gift.
