Dear LEGO - New Castle Armor Moulds

Post by royalbrickcustoms »

Dear LEGO,

Ever since LEGO Castle began in the early 1970's and 1980's, ever castle line has included minifigure armor of some kind. Most of them, however, have included the Euro (Breastplate) Armor piece.

I know that we have recently received several new shoulder armor moulds, such as the horned armor worn by the new Hobbit Gunbad Orcs, but I feel that we need some new castle-y armor pieces.

What do you all think?

Yes, it would be really nice, though that breastplate is such a great piece, in fact it's pretty much perfect! I think some shoulder armour would be nice, and possibly some pieces thatg clip to the wrist like gauntlets.

I don't want to see the current breastplate replaced since, as has been said, it is a great part. It would be nice to perhaps ad a chainmail element, and possible to revive the old chrome breastplate part.

I agree. I like the old breastplate, but it would be great if we could have a little variety to add to our current collections.

What about some more printed arms? Like the armoured leg prints, arms could have a little 'chain mail' on them, just enough to make an effect and not go OTT.

Possibly a smaller breastplate like the one printed on the torso of the swordsman from forest ambush, but a little unsure, as we seem to be getting an unnecessary amount of new shoulderpad molds from chima :?

I agree. A new armor mold would be stellar.

You know what would be EPIC?!!!? If Lego made a coif piece. It would be a chain mail hood that slipped over the head, with a little part that extended down to the chest, and the whole thing would have a mottled, wavy, mold to look like chain mail. Or even better, 2 separate parts, one for the hood, one for the chest piece. The chest piece would just look like a half circle, with the flat part hanging up, and it would probably go about halfway down the torso. Please read this Lego, it would be a dream come true!!!!! :D

I would prefer that they not do this. Creating new molds is expensive, and expenses are ultimately passed on to consumers. The new horse design already did enough damage to the cost/value of Castle sets. I think the current armor mold is fantastic, and the part is uncommon enough that it still feels special to get one in a set.

As a general rule, I'd prefer that they cut down on new part designs, and instead focus on making the existing parts available in more colors.

I agree the old ones are just fine and I don't feel like spending more because there are new armor pieces.

I agree that there have been too many new molds for fantasy style armor, such as chima, but in would like to see at least one more realistic medieval armor. It would really help give my soldiers some variation.

Yep, I totally agree with this. I have been waiting for a regular sword in red for some time (and no, I'm not settling for the red "zword" ). Having one type of armor has been ok with me given that the alternative, multiple armors, would make sets more expensive...they are already expensive enough.
