Perhaps they feel the whole thing smacks too much of divisive religious wars. I'd rather see other cultures acknowledged, personally. Seljuk Turks, Fatimid Egyptians, and Ottomans would all be great additions. The recent Lego survey showed a lot of support for Byzantines and Saracens.

But that Desert Raiders -vs- Sultan's Guard is just a bunch of bandits -vs- the sultan and his men. Its really no different than say... Crusaders -vs- Forestmen, its just that it happens in the deserts of the Middle East rather than the forests of Europe.

Besides, what I am describing are the Saracens anyhow... just split into raider chief -vs- sultan.

Personally though... I could go for a Byzantine Theme. It can make full use of both Mid-East and European style architecture. You can still use those rectangular shields as well as oval shields with that kind of theme.

*imagines Byzantine Cataphracts with barding and battle helmet armored horses, the rider armed with a lance and oval shield, wearing Euro armor.* *drools*

Byzantium Sets would be awesome, but they would need a real opponent to fight, like Ottoman Turks.
As far as I know, Saracens were the ones that caused the Mongolian Empire to collapse(the empire that destroyed the Seljuk Turks).Anyways, I really would want something related to my culture :)

No.... the Mongol Empire broke up into smaller Khanates after the death of Genghis. His sons and generals all fought for control, but instead managed to break it into several smaller empires. Not all that different than what had occured to Alexander's empire after his death.

Tamerlane who claimed ancestry from Genghis and made himself the new Khan... nearly destroys the Ottoman Empire, but his erractic wars of conquest kept him from conquering the Ottomans. Instead just when he own like most of Anatolia, he decides to turn eastward like Genghis did and died on the way to try and conquer China.

With Tamerlane's death and his lack of putting regional administrators into the countries he conquered... the empire he forged quickly evaporated.
