This is a very old thread. I snicker that it was resurrected simply to request a bigger version of the -hoax- picture which consists of little more than a Gandalf and Hobbit you could make with whatever pieces you have laying around the room and a blindfold on.

In any event, just to be nice, I tried to resize the image, but it just gets wonky looking. You're not missing anything, little Danju.

Look. I know perfectly well this was a MOC and I could build it. I just would like a bigger pic. It can be hard to tell detail at this small size.

Danju, can you please stop resurrecting these out of date topics. Just as with the topic on Vikings, your posts are basically spam - you're asking for trivial things that have either happened or you could do yourself.

Anyway, could Lego actually get a The Hobbit movie license? Obviously, LOTR was too dark and violent for a kid's playset, but The Hobbit is lighter in tone and so I think a license would attract many casual buyers.

The Hobbit?

They should make a set for the Battle of Pelennor. Complete with Osgiliath, Minas Tirith, and the huge armies.

There's really nothing to see. There's no detail. No special pieces. No decals. No rare torso designs. No rare faces. Nadda. Hence my response that you're not missing anything. It wasn't meant as sarcasm. Also note that I said that after trying to resize the picture for you, because I'm a nice guy.

But yes, please do think about your responses a little bit more before making them. It's just considered better manners on virtually all forums to not raise the dead unless you have something insightful or noteworthy to add. Just a thought.

The end of The Hobbit isn't exact 'light.' Battle of Five Armies, anyone? Still, it's immaterial. I am -almost- certain that TLG could never afford to aquire the license to any Tolkien rights. Simple as that. And to point a fact, I'm not so sure that they should, anyway. Firstly, TLG desperately needs to focus more on its own creations rather than this absurd obsession the company has had lately with licenses. Secondly, I don't think TLG (nor any of the knock-off companies) could do justice to Middle-earth. And lastly, and maybe most importantly, Middle-earth has already been merchandized to death, and I'd prefer to see it stop. The market is already over-saturated with a lot of ridiculousness with 'LOTR' stamped on it.

I would find it quite lovely if people would put things like LEGO-LotR from their minds and focus their ideas and concepts on something TLG might actually do. But now I'm ranting. Forgive me.

And I DO bump topics with things to add. You don't understand. But anyway, I wonder what the background of this pic comes from.

Alright, time for your friendly neighborhood admin to step in.

First off, Kohran, get off Danju's back. It's the job of the Admins and Mods to rebuke and instruct members. You are neither an admin or a mod. If you have a problem with how a member is acting, please privately PM an admin. Please refrain from posting publically.

Secondly, Danju, while bumping a thread is not a crime in itself, please consider the reasonableness of bumping such an old topic, and for a reason I consider rather trivial, too. This topic is a year old. A whole year. Admiral Matthew, the creator of the image, may not have been still around. A private message or email to Admiral Matthew would have probably been the better course of action.

Okay...I'm sorry, Nathan. I acted on an angry impulse, and I realize now that openly challenging another member without the correct authority was not the right thing to do. I'll try to avoid making such mistakes in the future.

Also, I apologize to you, Danju. Whilst I still hold to my original view, I know now that I should not have acted as I did.
Hopefully, we can both put aside any emnity between us and let it go away quietly, just like this thread.

Dude, I had something to add. Are you trying to make me leave? Anyway I still wonder where the background came from.

Hey Danju~

You can see in the post above that a member here named "Admiral Matthew" actually made the image. It's nothing more than some of his figs with a Hobbit background (only he knows where it came from, I guess) and some text he added.

This happens from time to time when members get the urge to do something creative with photoshop.

Just to back up Nathan (Lord of the LEGO), I know you feel as though you had something to add, and what you initially posted was fine for a newer thread - it's the age of the thread that is the issue. When you see an older thread, it's fine to post to it, but you should take into account that since we all talked about this in 2005, it's not so interesting to us now than if it was just posted. That's why it's better to either send a Private Message to the initial poster of a thread that is over 1 year old. I'm sure they'd love to brag about what they pulled off in Photoshop. 8)

In either event, I don't think anyone is trying to be openly hostile to you, try not to take it too seriously~

Hmm... I would suggest, in effort to keep this thread focused towards the cool little hoax, that we all just relax and post about LEGO somewhere else.

Yeah,we all were sad when Torin and his nephews were killed at the end... but compare it to the many sad moments in LOTR...or all the sadness of silmarillion... Tolkien really made"the Hobbit"as a lighter in tone...

Danju, Kohran apologized. Drop it.

I repeat, Danju, if you are interested in learning more about the featured image, feel free to PM the creator, Admiral Matthew. But since I am not him, I cannot guarantee a responce.

I think this thread served it's purpose long, long ago. Locked.
