Please bring back the Chess Set (or another castley one)
It seems the KK2 Chess set is no longer available in the US...

I do hope that this is temporary. This is a fantastic source of figs, and it stayed on shop at home's top seller list for a long, long time. I had wanted to get another.
And if it's not coming back (to the US), certainly there is now proof that such a set sells, and sells well. Perhaps a different chess set could be produced, with other (less blue) castley figs.

Hmmm it doesn't look like it's available in Canada either. I don't really like that set all that much, there were a lot of good alternatives to the army of baby blue old men. Hopefully they'll release a new one in 2006 with minifigs in manly colours.
Luckily I ordered mine five days before it was labelled out of stock

This is sad news.
How many did each of you get?
Three for me, so that's what $150.00 I fed to TLC.
If they're ever going to do another and I hope they do, IMO do not glue the board, keep the packaging simple and cheap, I don't need a fancy piece holder and anyone who owns one can make one out of Lego or just put them in a simple Lego box.
If they did these things, I wonder if the cost would go down, maybe around $29.99. I wish.
Maybe the next one should be Crusaders vs. Forestmen chess set.
P.S. Lego, I do prefer the 5-figures sets more then a $50 buck chess set, please rerelease those type of sets, figure population expansion/army building sets.
I'll take any of the two or both.
And please, make the chess set cheaper.

I totally agree. I want the Chess set back, I was going to buy two more after Christmas. A totally new one would be very cool as well.

Well, if the Chess Set is gone, I would prefer something a bit different. How about an honest to goodness minifig pack instead? Heck, if LEGO City fans can get 31 minifigs complete with accessories for $43, why can't we get the same? I would love a big minifig pack at a good price. The Chess Set with its 24 minifigs and $50 pricetag just doesn't compare well with the City equivilant.
Its high time that LEGO bring back minifig packs. Heck, army building is practically a sub-hobby for many castle builders. We constantly hear of fans looking to increase their meager supply of men, unable to accumulate alot of figures from today's sets. This is one market opportunity that LEGO seems to be missing out on.
Here's hoping for something better in the future
Later.

I was suprised how quickly this set went to "out of production" - it came out about the time I left the US, and now that I'm going back it is out of stock... I thought I would at least have time to experience culture shock before the set was no longer available... and maybe buy three of them to boot... now it looks like I'll have to go bargain hunting just to get one...
>sigh<
I would be ever so happy (and grateful) if LEGO would bring this back!

I know you all want to see other castle chess sets, but I dont see that as likely. I think if they do another chess set it will be in another theme, a town, space, star wars, bionicle, etc.

Pray to the Gods no... I hope they update it instead with the new factions (Rouge Knights, etc).Recluce wrote:I know you all want to see other castle chess sets, but I dont see that as likely. I think if they do another chess set it will be in another theme, a town, space, star wars, bionicle, etc.

Yes...that could work! In 2006, we have a new king, King Jayko, and Vladek was described as the 'Scorpion King', so having king figures wouldn't be a problem. As for a queen figure, I highly doubt that Jayko hasn't gotten married by now (though baby blue might not exactly reel in the girls...). As well as that, the Hero Knights and the Rogue Knights both have two main warriors that accompany their leaders (Kentis/Adric, Dracus/Karzon), so the knight pieces wouldn't be a problem. On top of that, all the other figures are generic, so that would be okay. The Hordesman wrote:Pray to the Gods no... Lego, please make a KK2 2006-style chess set!

Time to join the chorus.
Sir Kohran´s idea sounded good as well.
A note though; it doesn´t seem to have sold out for us Swedes...

Thanks Maedhros for the info. I think Im gonna buy one or even two before it is too late.
A new set would be awesome, if the rouge knights really got shields and euro armor then there are no complaints.

Ahhh, dang. I was planning on getting one...maybe when it was on sale. The figures are a huge plus...but I enjoy chess aswell and need a new board.
A new castle chess set with out sky blue would be ideal.
