KK2 swords?

Post by Dopefish »

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but is anyone else annoyed that the KK2 knights all have the same (rather ugly) sword? I mean, think about it, one of the best ways to determine a character's personality is by the weapon he uses. A man with a zweihander is almost invariably different from a man with a Spanish Sabre, so I thought of which knights would have which weapons:

Jayko (blue) - Since Mike Rayhawk's site says he's the one out for glory, I'd equip him with a falchion. Though European in design, it looks quite eastern and exotic, and, much like Eastern swords, can be very flashy if used right, as well as offering extra agility. What might work very well is a Kilij scimitar (even more associated with flashiness), which is convenient, as lego already makes this piece.

Danju (purple) - He's a classic legend, no? Sword and shield.

Rascus (Green) - A Rapier or Sabre, definitely, and probably some knives. The old pirate sabre piece works I suppose, but perhaps a new one, longer most likely, could be in order. A Spanish sabre would probably work better, as it has a more befitting look, seems like it would be harder to break than a rapier piece, and the spanish styles are usually, I find, more dance-oriented, making sense, as Rascus dances circles around the opponent, taunting them, whilst throwing knives while performing bizarre movements. :)

Santis (Red) - Either a zweihander or a really huge sword. A Zweihander piece could easily get caught, but would easily symbolize strength. This could probably work best with a holster piece on the back of the helmet, probably with an extra gripping area on the blade itself (if possible),
and the sword could easily be assembled from multiple pieces (though I imagine that wouldn't make too many happy, I've got some ideas for a gigantic sword)

Vladek (Black) - I'd say some big twisted up sword, but if we go by Lego's current stuff, I'd actually either give him a katana, or one of those gigantic halberds that look all evil. The halberd needs no explanation, and I just think a black katana could look evil on a dude wearing all black armor. :)

King Mathias - Chrome broadsword, possibly the gold one. :)

Anyways, if you're like me, and insist each one have his own unique weapon, here's my rundown on my suggestions for what you give them:

Jayko - Scimitar
Danju - Sword (I'd prefer old-style, but your choice) and shield.
Rascus - Sabre and knife. I might also give him a woodsman hat, but I'm not sure.
Santis - I'd make my own big one, or possibly even give him an axe (I think there's some big battle axes in the Viking sets)
Vladek - Katana or giant, evil halberd.
Mathias - Chrome or chrome gold broadsword.

Now, I don't even like KK2 but whatever. This just bugged me too much. Also, hi guys.

Hi and welcome to Classic-Castle.com

Suggestions about what you want LEGO to change in KK2 should be in the Dear LEGO section. I will move this topic there. And there is another topic on bringing back the short sword. Check it out here: viewtopic.php?t=5146&start=0

Also, if you wanted to make a fig MOC of the kk2 knight using your suggested weapons, that would go in Customs. Which might be a pretty cool project.

OH, sorry! Didn't see this forum description. Also, unless I can get the guys for kinda cheap, I'm not making a MOC... I've spent entirely too much on my Brikwars campaign lately (Though I'm glad to say quite a few classic castle elements snuck into it!)

Also, I'd change helmets and armor type, but I'll get into that later.

Not a bad idea...I may have to give this a try.

okay, getting some ideas for building characters. In the order of finishing them in my mind...

RASCUS:
Rascus torso, no armor.
Green legs, standard stuff,
keep the Rascus head.
Give him a pirate sabre in one hand, take a knife and put it in the other.
If your Rascus has a horse, I suggest you put two more knives in the saddle.
For his hat, give him a forestmen hat.
If you really want to modify him, you can make him Sir Rascus, the noble forest man, and give him a forestmen torso as well.
Another possibility, and I like this one quite a bit, is the green captain torso from the Armada set.

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=pi015

The armada torso could work for any formal stuff you have him in, as well.

DANJU:
Danju Torso.
Danju legs.
Danju head.
With me so far?
He needs a shield. I'd give him a long shield, but I probably wouldn't give him his wolf one. Hey, a classic Wolfpack one might work. But I digress.
Classic broadsword in the other hand...
His helmet, the one on the far right in this pic:
http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6042.html
His armor... I thought there was a such a thing as classic knights armor, but it appears I'm wrong or something. It's the armor that's flatter, not puff-chested like the Armada. If there is, and you have it, give it to him. If I'm as delusional as I think I am, it seems the gray or chrome armada armor would work a charm. I'd say the gray. This, combined with the armor, gives him an almost quixotic charm in my eyes, for some reason.
The pattern on the purple torso strikes me as a Spanish thing, but from the Harry Potter sets, the Dumbledore torso might work if it so pleases you.
Gray legs, maybe, to tone down tackiness and give the illusion of chainmail leggings.
If you need a moc with Danju in a formal setting, I might suggest that he switches his purple color theme for a bit, and give him some long hair (gentlemanly styles)

To say I'm making these up on the fly is an understatement.

SANTIS:
A kinda old Knights torso, the red one with the platemail scales.
Dark gray legs.
Armada armor for him, though, in my opinion, something good is on the horizon. If you buy any of the awful-looking Avatar sets (That's not to say some parts don't look cool - just the very thought of it is rather horrifying), the special armor pieces there might look alright on him. It's a tradeoff, the puff chest or the special piece.
Take a viking bearded axe. Double or single head is your choice, and slap it in his hand.
I suggest you give either give him one of the old, round shields, or give him a viking shield, if you can find an appropriate one.
His helmet, I suggest a black one with a noseguard, or a black armada helmet might look good.
Oh yeah, keep the Santis head.

For formal occasions, give Santis the Armada red captain torso:
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?M=pi016

JAYKO:
I don't like this guy. He's getting annoyingly hard to think of good things for.
Okay...

Jayko head.
The blue Wizard torso seems like it would work pretty well, black or gray hands. Get some armor that doesn't look too puff-chested, preferrably gray, and make him don that. For his helmet, take one of the old gray ones with the molded-in grille.

http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6085.html <Seen on the horsemen here.

...
He's impossible.
...
Luke Skywalker legs, if you so desire. OR, bonus! Whatever legs you honestly think look best on him!
Give him a scimitar. Gray, shiny, or black is up to you.
I can't think of anything at the moment for his formal wear.
...
I'm not liking Jayko any more.

EDIT: Didn't they used to make armor blueish? Maybe his blue armor plate could be of use.

VLADEK
Get rid of giant helmet, first. Cool design, poor proportions.
Instead, get him this helmet:
http://www.classic-castle.com/sets/archives/6028.html
Add a red plume, the dragon plume is preferred.
Give him a black cape.
The Leather Armor pattern legs:
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic ... 970c00pb13
The striped armor plate torso, with black hands:
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic ... 973px90c01

Then, you can either give him the big, black Alien shoulderpads, Black Samurai armor, (both of which would probably look very good in their own ways) or, if you so desire, his old armor suit.
Now, for weapons, give him one of those honkin' huge dark gray axes, the ones with the scary, vicious looking pattern. Optionally, give him a black katana in his saddle, and, if you so desire, a slightly anachronistic black flintlock rifle or pistol. (Arquebusier - Let's just say he went to China. Who's to say the villain's gonna fight fair?) (Also, okay, if it was a small cannon, it'd be much less anachronistic, but anachronistic indeed. You caught me.)

Be warned, you may wanna put the shoulderpad or armor on the neck first, then the cape, then the head.

I'm sure you can find something formal for him, if you so desire formal.

KING MATHIAS:
Matty can stay just the same.
However, I don't have a figure of the king, but all the pics I see, his crown looks tacky. Might wanna put an older crown on that, if that's the case. For weapon, the chrome zweihander/broadsword.

If I can get the instructions straight in my head, I'll be working on a special Santis sword.

EDIT: Got a special idea for Jayko. Give him a quiver, preferrably on one of the leg pegs, and a crossbow or bow/arrow.

I did something similar to this once with a knight in a chess set:

It's kinda hard to see, but I used the standard Danju legs, torso, shield, and head. Then I gave him grey Samurai armor, a purple cape, a chrome broadsword, and blond hair. Works like a charm!

I've considered this as well, but rather than imagine up any weapon at all - I based my ideas on what actually exists, including Red Bean and Little Armory weapons.

Keeping in mind that I don't follow the character stories all that much, so I just know what I've garnered from around the forums and the text that comes with the sets:

Jayko: Supposed to be about speed and valour? I'd equip him with a LEGO triangular shield (as it strikes me as relatively light) and a Little Armory scimitar. Or to get away from hand-weapons, I think javelins (like the Greek ones Red Bean sells) would be really cool for a 'speed' oriented character.

Danju: As was said - seems pretty 'classic' in style. I'd go with a Little Armory shield and Little Armory single-hand sword (the series 3 one with the brazil-nut [or 'boat'] pommel).

Rascus: Suave and swashbucklin'. Definitely fits with the standard pirate saber and no shield. The Little Armory longsword would also fit very well, as it's an elegant and quick weapon.

Santis: Supposed to be big and strong. Little Armory two-hander all the way. Mean and intimidating.

Vladek: For some reason Vladek reminds me of Mordred from the Arthurian tales - who killed Arthur with a spear. So I think a black Red Bean 'Elven Spear' would be awesome for Vladek.

King Mathias: I imagine him as really old-fashioned, totally the opposite of a flashy chromed/magical/golden weapon type of guy. Little Armory Norse sword and standard LEGO kite shield to give him that 'old world' look.
Forge not works of art but swords of death, for therein lies great art.

I use the KK2 swords as the longswords of all my non-Kahilawayan armies now. All the GreatSwords I have, has been removed of their pommels to make a "Lantaka-Kampilan".
