I must also say that as long as they are not jellybeans, I think it will be ok. If the new castle line has a few battle packs, I will buy more then a few...

Well let's just say that I would get at least 50 of each ( if they are $10, with 3-4 figs),especially considering that not one of my armies has more than 10 figs.

I'd love a peasant pack. Maybe it could be a rabble-rouser or peasant revolt pack? We could have a bunch of peasants with tools, torches and makeshift weapons?

Some battlepack ideas:

Forestman Battle Pack: 2 forestmen, a forestwoman, a Dark Forest guy, a few trees, and a small tent.
Vikings Battle Pack: 2 vikings of any kind, a warlord, a queen, and a small boat.
Undead Battle Pack: 1 normal skeleton, 1 evil skeleton, a necromancer, a ghost, and some gravestones.
Peasant "Battle" Pack: 2 peasants, a baliff, a female peasant, and a cart.
Knight's Kingdom Battle Pack: 2 soldiers, a knight, a shadow knight, and a catapult. 1 for each province.
Royalty "Battle" Pack: Any king, a queen, a prince, a baron, and 2 thrones.
Fright Knight Battle Pack: 2 Fright Knights, Basil, Willa, some flying machine.
Dragon Masters Battle Pack: Majisto, 2 dragon masters, a dragonmaster with a cape, and a dragon.

I could go forever with this..

Those are not battlepacks....

IMO, battle packs should be like the Town People pack of 30 minifigs. Heck, IIRC, there were minifig battlepacks of 50 or so Clone Troopers and Droids.

There should be battlepacks of 25 or so Castle minifigs, from EVERY Lego Castle faction ever made. Imagine this...
4 mounted
1 leader
20 soldiers (mix of all types of infantry)

Imagine battle packs of...
Black Knights/Monarchs
Black Falcons
Dragon Masters
Fright Knights
Ninja Shogun
Ninja Robbers
Ninja Red Ninjas
Crusaders
Royal Knights
Forestmen
Dark Forest
Wolfpack
Vikings
Knights Kingdom 1 Bulls
Knights Kingdom 1 Knights
Knights Kingdom 2 (Jayko kingship so we get generic soldiers)
Knights Kindgom 2 Shadow Knights & Vladek
and etc.

They are, 4 minifigs and extras is the norm for the SW battleplacks.

Unfortunately, you are right, although JPinoy's idea would be amazing if it ever were to happen.

What you're describing is basically a Minifigure set, such as those back in the 80s and 90s. If your correct about this, then LEGO is basically rehashing the same idea but with a different name.

For me... "Battle Packs" sounds bigger than "Minifigure Sets"...

Unfortunately JPinoy's request would have very high production costs. Most themes have 5-6 different minifig torsos at one time. To reproduce the printing equipment for each of those figs would be very expensive.

The advantage of torsos like the classic space torso or the printed knight armor torso is they can be printed on different color torsos for more variety. Asking for something like that and Crusader and Black Falcon torsos (made in the recent Legends) would be more realistic. Still, we can dream about a dacta educational castle 40 minifig set.

Well if they release small cheap sets, like defense archer, crossbowboat, and duel defender. But nothing is better than the real thing!

TLC have said that if they release minifig packs it takes away sales from their larger sets. So in my mind why not have a large minifig pack.

The current SW clone troopers battle pack has 4 minifigs at $5 AU each.

So taking off the 25% SW surcharge, that brings the cost down to around $4 AU each or $16. They could make say 24 minifigs, plus a few accessories, throw them in a pack and retail it for around $90 AU. They could even make a game out of it. Call it, I dunno, "Chess" or something. :p

Now if only they'd release a new castle line chess set and release it to RETAIL in Aus. None of this stupid S@H exclusive with its 40% shipping surcharge business.

What are you reffering to. I have never heard of a 40 minifig set.

Well, with all the minifigs we're seeing with this new castle line, I don't think army building should present much of a problem. Heck, when these are released it might be a good idea to set up trades in the buy/sell forums. People who want to amass skeleton knights could exchange with people looking for more of the king's knights. Considering that the smallest set comes with 3 minifigs, this would be a great way to build some incredible armies.
